And they'll probably show you the door. The reason why a lot of these brokers get good deals, particularly the ones like Drivethedeal because they can put a lot of business to specific dealerships and therefore can enjoy fleet prices, something most individual buyers can't.Show the dealer the "Buyacar" quote and ask them to better it.0 -

Yep which leads me the question I posted earlier. Why would anyone purchase directly from a dealer nowadays when you can save thousands sometimes going these brokers?0 -

Because buyers are nervous about buying cars online (we used drivethedeal and they were excellent) and there's often a part ex car to consider.0 -

Very unlikely to happen. The only way to apply "fleet" prices is to sell to fleets, fleet discount codes cannot be applied to retail buyers. The discounts offered are retail offers that are available to everyone. The dealer may offer more of the margin for broker introduced sales, but they still have to pay the broker's their commission. If a customer was to present a quote from a broker, any dealer will do their best to match or better it, because at least they won't have to pay the broker any fees; as well as the point that the dealer might not be on the broker's list and would therfore be excluded from being considered. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

But people are not buying online. DTD connect you with a main dealer and from that point on you do all your talking and the actual buying from the dealer over the phone, not some website on the internet.0 -
But, the reason they ARE getting a good deal is because of the discount already worked out with the broker, add a part-ex to the equation and that discount will soon start to diminish. But people are not buying online. Approach the dealer directly and I very much doubt you'll be given the same discount.0 -
I agree. Looking back it seems only Flyboy152 thinks a dealer will match or better a quote from these brokers.
What discounts do think are available to on-line brokers, that are not available to the general public? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
The very fact that they can put a lot of business the way of the dealer means they'll secure preferential discounts for their clients, it's not that difficult to understand. What discounts do think are available to on-line brokers, that are not available to the general public?
From DTD FAQ:Q: How can you get such good prices
A: Because we place so many purchases. If you can get a discount on a car locally, and you are only buying one car, then just imagine how much discount you could get if you were buying 20 cars? We also work with Company car fleets, and as a result we have a lot of negotiating power which we are using to help you to get a better deal.0 -
I used Drive The Deal very successfully for a Skoda Octaiva.
My local dealer could not believe the price I was getting he said it was a lot less than he would have to pay for the car, DTD was £1000 cheaper for the next trim level up and I got to keep my Ford Focus (worth about £500 px).
The thing about DTD is it removes the haggle, which is just a crap experience, I don't haggle over beans in Tesco's why do I want to do it on a car.0
