Below is my email response from Bob Diamond.

Having reviewed matters, I can see this matter is already being investigated by the office charged with administering Payment Protection Insurance complaints. As such I have passed your most recent correspondence to that team; however, as the Payment Protection Insurance complaints process has been defined and agreed with our Regulator, I am unable to arrange to circumvent the agreed timescales for dealing with complaints of this nature.! To confirm, we have committed to respond to your complaint by 31 August.
    !
I trust I have clarified matters and thank you for bring your ongoing complaint to our attention.

I sent my acceptance forms back last Saturday by 1st class recorded post. I had proof that it was delivered on the Monday. I called Barclays today and guess what, they havent received the form yet.... bloody useless. Someone from 'the team' is looking into this for me.... Hmmmm. We will see.
  • I also have a claim being dealt with Barclays and received my offer letter on the 30th July 2011, I sent the letter back by recorded delivery the same day and it was signed for and received on the 1st August. After one week I phoned Barclays who said that they had not processed my letter and the person said that a customer services manager would call me within 2 days. No call, I phoned again on the 8th August, a rather curt answer from another member of staff who at first refused to access my details and said that there was a ten day backlog of dealing with letters. He logged my concerns and said to call back after 10 days. Called this evening a much nicer person who did apologise this time. Still no record of my letter, I offered to fax a copy of my signed letter, he said that they had to have the original copy of the letter. His advice was to call back next Tuesday for an update, if it hasn't been found then they may be able to arrange payment through proof of phone call with approval of a case manager. This does not seem to match with what he had said earlier that you could not be paid even if I faxed a copy of the agreement to them. I feel totally fobbed off by Barclays. I now have no confidence in Barclays. I have been a customer with them for over 20 years and as soon as all my business is finalised I will leave their bank, As for the 31st of August deadline I was told that this only applies to the offer letter not actual payment so roll on Christmas .......

I spoke to head office complaints again today and your email confirms what I was told over the phone. Barclays have decided not to escalate ppi complaints that are sent to the executive (i.e. emailing Bob Diamond will not get any faster response) I would imagine the first people were lucky but from now on we just have to wait. I see their point of view that its unfair on those who have been waiting from last year but in my case I was pushing the point that mine were not logged correctly back in November and due to their error they were not logged until Jan.
We will just have to wait i suppose.

Rebecca - was your email sent from bob diamonds office or from someone in higher complaints?
