I don't enter the ones for tickets for shows, etc, I just wouldn't be able to get to most of them. Raffles for charities are good to give unwanted small prizes to. Any that can be used for presents are good to keep.

I try to enter most of them. I find that once I get behind, it's very hard to catch up!!

We have extremely prolific posters of comps on the site. Their hard work is much appreciated by all of us.

It takes hours keeping up with this lot, so ~ NONE ~ it gets too confusing, and I'm more likely to duplicate entries. Tried Loquax once, but found it too complicated.
You'll find the regulars on here pick up very quickly on the waste of time ones.

I find it harder and harder to get out of here  There are so many comps posted that it takes most of my spare time getting through these.:D I think we have one of the best forums in that links are always clearly given and most posters try to give the answer as well. Most other sites leave you to find the answer for yourself.

I would also recomend Loquax and the prizefinder. Loquax has a tracking system which helps you remember which comps you have entered. It is has forums which are a good place to learn a lot about all aspects of comping. I would especially recommend the regional forums as local entry comps give you a higher chance of winning. Be fair though and only enter your local ones as Loquax can get complaints from promoters if people from all over the country enter. The prizefinder is less complex than loquax and I find it quicker to use.

I like uk rec competitions which is a small and friendly newsgroup. Although I tend to find comps get reposted a lot, so take care with multiple entries.

Aha, same here! Everytime i think i've found a new competition i come back here to post it and found i'm a few days behind the rest of the comping world or have been beaten by minutes by an eagle-eyed mse'r. Now think i'll just stick with this board so all my thanks are given to the op's! :o

Am very, very greatful to those who do post - wouldn't be able to enter anywhere near as many as i do currently without them!

    Hi all
Does anyone know if competitions originating in the UK are governed by UK law ? And what about online competition from UK sites ?

And is there anyone you can go to to complain about a competition ?

I entered a competition which has turned out to be v dodgy !

Ooh! They should be I'm guessing... I think it's illegal if they advertise a comp and don't send prizes... I think you need to contact ASA - Advertising Standards Authority. Not too sure - depends on the problem but they can hopefully point you in the right direction.... just keep all the proof you have ;)

Thanks Heavenly - I'm so annoyed, the competition I entered was on the website for a large reputable magazine, I thought it would be trustworthy and I went to a lot of effort to enter. I had to film and edit a video.

According to their rules listed at the time of the competition I won, but they are now saying its a third party PR company and they say I didn't win. It's v complicated but I do have screengrabs of everything. It sounds like a promotion stunt by the PR company who never intended to give out the prize.

I'm so careful what I enter and am v upset that companies use our time and effort and kick us in the teeth...boo hoo !
