elsien - you could always advertise big items like that in your local paper or theres always Ebay.

I recently won a Sky + Box but didn't want to pay the extra per month to actually take a subscription. I put an ad in my local papers classifieds section and I had about 15 phone calls - I could've sold it 10 times over.

I sold it through Ebay in the end.

  • Hi! I normally use my internet provider email address when entering competitions. However, I'm being disconnected on Friday. So I was thinking of setting up a separate email address like gmail or yahoo solely for comps. Do the competition companies mind if I use these types of email addresses for entering? Silly question but bothering me all the same!

I nearly always use a hotmail address and I have never had a problem :)

    Can anyone help?
What happens if you have to change your e-mail address?
Can you get a forwarding option (like with the post office when you move house) from your old address to your new one?
Will all the competitions you entered with your old address get to you at your new address?

I ask because my broadband provider Virgin, have changed there name and are offering a new e-mail address.
I think there is an option to keep your old address, but I just wondered when people do change e-mail addresses, do you just lose all the past entries you have made?

    thanks in advance.

well no, I can't agree. Many / most of the "answers" given on here are trivial / obvious. This one took real work. I ENJOYED working it out and finding the final location. I wouldn't thank you for telling me, and I guess others enjoy the challange too.

This is a quote from someone who doesn't appreciate our regular posties.

I would just like say thank you to all those who do post competitions on here, whether it be trivial or not!!!

Please post below and let them know how much we appreciate all their hard work and time spent. If you have won because of their efforts, please mention this too!!!

IMHO..I think it's nothing to do with the answer..whether it is easy or not. To me, it is the finding of comps that makes me thank people.

Online comps lurk everywhere and i would miss so many if it wasn't for someone else posting.

Of course Thanking someone is voluntary and it is up to the individual.

I enjoy this forum, I enjoy the community, and I enjoy entering the comps. Hopefully I will enjoy more regular winnings.

Often comments like this come from people who don't get involved. They are missing the main point of what we are about: we are an online community. Posting trivial answers is sometimes just part of the chat that goes on. When people chat together they generally say a lot of trivial things. It is the connecting with someone else that is important not our IQ.

I remember posting a totally wrong answer to a question about Washington that everyine else found obvious. I was grateful for people that helped with the correct answer.
