Why can a huge company risk my life without penality?

Well the title sums it up really,
A huge organisation from who I purchased a vehicle has risked the lives of me and my family as well as all the other motorists on the road around me by selling me a seriously defective and dangerous vehicle (faulty brakes).
I took legal advice and my solicitor said under SOGA I am entitled to a full refund including costs - great I said is that it? She replied that as no one was hurt or injured the goods are simply defective.
So Why can a huge company risk the lives of so many people without any real consequences?
Its ridiculous!
I have not mentioned the company deliberately.

You can't claim for what might have happened. If that was the case then I'm putting in a claim now in case I get run over tomorrow. Do you see what I mean?
I would get the offer of refund from the "huge organisation" before you do anything else, rather than taking it as read because your solicitor says so, it could become a protracted business.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I might get hit by a bus tomorrow, I demand COMPO!0

I'll give OP the benefit of the doubt and assume rather than being a money grabbing so and so, he means a fine or an official reprimand from a watchdog etc.I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

The company has agreed to a refund, SOGA 1982 means the have no option.
I don't really see what you mean, nobodies actions / inactions are making it extremely likely that you might be run over, that would be coincidence of you being in a given place at a given time whilst a driver may lose concentration / speed / drunk etc etc. The companies actions / inactions placed significant risk on life, it was not a case of "it might happen" had I attempted to stop from circa 70mph they would have failed without any input from me.
Why does someone need to die/ be injured for action to be taken?
Why do we fine or put in prison drunk drivers? because they are a danger to them selves or other or both? this situation is no different I was sold a "drunk vehicle".
I am not interested in "claiming" or money I want them to be punished for endangering life!
Possibly Crimes act sec 22/230 -
Trading standards could take the company to court for supplying an unroadworthy vehicle, they could get hit with a fine in the region of 3K - 5K which I agree is not nearly what it should be (show me a fine which is what it should morally be), but it would be something. Have you spoken to trading standards?0

are you saying this car was deliberately sold with a brake defect or that it was missed prior to you taking it0

are you saying this car was deliberately sold with a brake defect or that it was missed prior to you taking it
Given that it was approved and these companies purport to check everything on the used vehicles, I would suggest it was deliberate as it was impossible for a competent mechanic to miss.0 -
clearly there was an issue since you've been refunded. which they are unlikely to do lightly, even if you are in the right !
but what sort of brake fault could be that dangerous that competent mechanic should have noticed it, yet not be picked up on a test drive by a purchaser. Just so we can all be more aware ?0 -
'faulty brakes' doesn't tell us much. For all we know there could be worn pads, warped disc, jammed caliper etc but the 3 others were still working and you're being a bit of a drama queen.....
My last car had a seized rear caliper and two dodgy sliders on the front but them and the remaining fully functioning one stopped the car without anything more than a judder.0 -
Sensationalist forum talk by OP
Im afraid i take the post with a very large pinch of epson salts unless more details are given
Sellers name does not need to be mentioned but cool hard facts do.
Very tiring reading of the motor trade being run down ,no wonder dirty tricks are done when they are constantly run down, you posters who do this will be surely be sorry when you have choice taken away from you and it is decreed you have to go to a govt approved centre for sales and repairs and we all know what that means (if you dont then google quango0
