Vodafone lack of technology and support

Hi All,
I am a vodafone customer and have a Nokia 5800 which is on contract. Ever since June I have been having massive problems with the phone.
Everytime I turn the phone on it immediately says Search WLAN, so it is basically searching for the internet. I have tried to turn this off and it is clear for about 10 mins and comes back on again. This is so frustrating as when I want to make a call or send a text this message keeps coming up. I am also getting my voicemail messages 2-3 days late and my phone is turning itself off. I rang vodafone direct and got told to go to my local store for a software upgrade. I went to my local store in High Wycombe and all the customer advisor did was show me how to turn the WLAN off...which is what I do anyway..he then promptly went off and helped another customer!!!
Frustrated at the High Wycombe branch I went to the Marlow branch, was told 'yeah we can upgrade the software and it will take about 2 -3 hours'. On the 30 July I made plans to go to Marlow and get my phone sorted, so got up early went to Marlow to be told ' sorry but the equipment that we use to upgrade is broken'
So last week I rang the main vodafone number to get the branch number of Truro as I would be down in Cornwall this week. The lady was not keen on giving me the number at all but I managed to get it. I rang Truro and was told ' not a problem come in and we will sort it' Been down to the Truro branch today and left my phone with them, came back 2 hours later and was told ' that the laptop was not connecting to the internet so could not upgrade software'
The advisor was very apologetic but could not help me at all.
I am so frustrated as I have this rubbish phone until January 12, I do not want to upgrade as I want to go on PAYG as it will be cheaper for me. I also want to keep with vodafone especially as it has the best coverage in the country. This mobile is my main number because I rent a room in a house and therefore am not allowed to install a landline!
The service so far has been very poor, particulary High Wycombe, all advisors seem interested in is android phones and iphones..is there anything else I can do?

That's a tough one - have you tried taking it into the independent phone shops/unlocking shops? They might have a cheap fix.0

Have you tried hard resetting the phone?

Good luck

Hi razzledazzle77,
I am sorry to hear you are having some problems with your handset.
As izools has mentioned, doing a hard reset may fix this issue for you. You can also try doing the software update yourself by following the instructions from one of our moderators here.
If you continue to have the same issue, drop me an email via the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject and a link to this thread. I will be more than happy to look into this further for you.
Kind regards,
Heidi

Hi there razzledazzle
Its so annoying when you have a problem with your phone.
You mention that you will be changing to PAYG at the end of your contract.
There are some really cheap phones available on PAYG which you would be able to use with your contract SIM. You would be able to purchase one for under £20 and there is even a touchscreen available for £25.
At least you would have a phone which you would be able to use for calls and texts and when you changed to PAYG, you would be able to carry on using the phone.0 -
