I wouldn't be comfortable suing the rail company because there wasn't really any substantial injury to me...I just had a massive bruise and a sore elbow. You can't sue for that, surely!

But can I just say, the barriers very definitely DO close with substantial force!!! They absolutely slammed into me and completely knocked the breath out of me, bashing my elbow to such an extent that I cried out with pain...and I'm ashamed to say treated the nice station staff to the F word...!

    How embarrassing is that??

You need to see what the company say first and then decide what to do from their, dont discount using a solicitor to wirte to them so that they know you wont just go away with a bunch of flowers and empty promises, its wrong what happened to you and while you are only bruised and embarassed what might happen to someone else next?

I hate no win no fee cowboys and they have changed litigation in this country for ever but that should never, ever put people with genuine greivances off following up an incident in which they were hurt and embarassed.

I use a stick and have used train barriers and have never been caught , i would use the wide barriers if i could but usually taken up by a barage of pushchairs and people with suitcases bigger then them and when people are pushing behind you cannot just stand and wait to get through because they don't care you have a stick they just want out of the station or onto the underground ,
However i have never had the issue the op has had .
