the hot water boiler and CH boiler are seperate and we have been told by them that only the CH boiler is covered.

If it was a combi boiler we would have been sorted
Hmmm, not quite sure how it works if you have separate boilers.

A lot of people seem to call the hot water tank and immersion heater the 'hot water boiler.' I suspect that is what 'executiverocker' means.

Homecare 100 just covers the boiler that supplies CH and hot water to the hot water tank - this is a different type of boiler to a combi boiler.

Homecare 200 covers the boiler and all the CH and hot & cold water system - pipes, pumps, rads, controls, HW and cold water tanks etc.
  • i think if the boiler is a single unit, then everything is covered with the homecare 200, but because we have two seperate boilers, only the one supplying CH is covered. I believe that is true from with BG are saying

Just had my housemates mum ranting at managers at british gas , because we can do nothing unless the quotation is signed and confirmed by my landlord(paperwork then signed off, with parts to then be arranged to be replaced), even though its us who pay all the bills.

Basically nothing we can do , and until we can get in contact with the landlord, its going to be cold showers :(

Just so we understand this correctly. Are you saying you have a gas fired boiler with timer etc supplying the CH and a separate gas fired boiler with timer, in another location, that just supplies hot water?

3* definately covers a hot water tank, but I'm pretty sure doesn't cover a 2nd boiler.

Homecare 100 is boiler and controls, so doesn't cover pipework, radiators, etc.
Homecare 200 covers the full heating system and hot water tank.
Then you have the extra addons with 3/400 which are little to do with the system directly.
There is a new product called flexi where you get exactly the same cover for cheaper, however if you call them out (except for the safety/maintenance ispection) there is a 50 quid excess and you can't build up a loyalty discount.

i have one boiler which supplies the ch and can be controlled with a timer

I then have one other boiler that heats the water on demand
