Hi,
Sorry if this was posted before I looked but couldn't find it.
I am considering getting British Gas homecare 100 to cover my boiler. I just wondered if anyone has had it and had to use it. Was the service good and was it worth it?
Thanks in advance

I have it and wouldn't be without it.
I moved into my house and found my pipe work for the central heating system wasn't the best and my boiler was becoming dated. I took out the 3* policy and have had repairs done within the contract.
Its expensive but for me it has more than paid for its self. It is a peace of mind feeling, if anything goes wrong it can be sorted quickly with just one phone call, not endless searching through the yellow pages.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Its worth it and the engineers are pretty good most of the time. ive used it now 3 times in 2006 and they have always fixed the problem0

There have been lots of threads about BG Servicing contracts - it has only just changed its name to Homecare.
If you do a search for those threads you will find very mixed opinions on the performance of BG - some love them, others hate them.0 -

I have the BG homecare 200.For about 5 years now. This has been very good
as in the 2nd year of the boiler the time control went.I always get the regular annual service on the system(to be requested) so I think the near £3.75pw is well worth it for the safety of my family and other adjoining properties should there be an explosion.
I would also be concerned if I had a gas breakdown in the winter and wouldn't know who to call out and the huge prices they may charge.
Have a look at http://www.quidco.com/british-gas/ as I believe you can get cashback to join the British Gas scheme.
I will be starting a new thread on whether house insurance should be made compulsory by the government.Especially certificate for annual checks.0 -
I have Homecare 200. I guess it's worth it for the peace of mind, but it ends up costing much more than it would if I were to just call out an engineer when required. I had them out a couple of days ago to replace a faulty valve and the engineer seemed very efficient.
It used to include a boiler service, but these days it's just what they call a "Yearly Safety and Maintenance Inspection" (which doesn't appear to involve much).Stompa0 -
our landlord has homecare 200. Our hot water boiler went so we called them out only to find out only the CH boiler is covered under home care
So dont know what to do now0 -
Hi
There was a post on this site a couple of weeks ago from a lady who had a reduction on her gas supplier, british gas. SOmeting to do with if you are in any receipt of benefits. I have rang my gas supplier today ( same for electricity ) and she said you can only have this if you are in receipt of disability. We qualify on the wfc/tx side but not on the disability.
Has anyone else come across the same problem. ?? if British gas actions this on purley wfc/tx then I was thinking of changing over.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -

Hmmm, not quite sure how it works if you have separate boilers. This:

seems to imply that Homecare 200 covers hot water.Stompa0 -

the hot water boiler and CH boiler are seperate and we have been told by them that only the CH boiler is covered.
If it was a combi boiler we would have been sorted0
