Check your Tesco home delivery receipts!

Not technically an offer but you could save a couple of pounds every week. I get Tesco to deliver my shopping once a fortnight. Up until a couple of weeks ago I only checked my receipt to make sure that all the prices were right and that I had everything. I had been charged for something that I shouldn't have been and I decided to tally up the total prices on the far right of the receipt and it didn't add up! All of the prices were right but it was a case of simple arithmetic (when I say simple I had several goes with the calculator to get the same total twice!) Phoned Tesco and got the difference (£2.50 ish) refunded. Since then I have had two more shops delivered and one had the correct total and yesterday's shop was overcharged by another £2. Obviously I'm much more aware and get the calculator out as soon as the delivery person leaves but just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and if they ever got an explanation from Tesco as to how it happened as surely the sum total is calculated by computer.

That's a bit scary isn't it? Hope this sort of issue doesn't occur with our average shop til receipt as, like you, I normally spend time checking items have been charged for correctly but never actually spend time adding the whole column up to ensure the total is truly correct?!.....Will be doing so on several supermarkets outings over the next few weeks though to check it defo isn't happening there too. Thanks for the post Lyndy :beer:Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. :A0

After having other problems for the last 2 weeks, this week meat labelled £6.62 & being charged £7.79 & late delivery, I remembered seeing this thread & decided to add up the printed amounts, 1 was ok the other £2.50 over charged.
How can Tesco get away with their additions being incorrect, I checked twice & got OH to check as I was so suprised by this, about to email & ask for an explanation.0 -
Hopefully you get an answer by email MelJ. I phoned and they couldn't explain why it had happened and didn't have time to add up every item on my list so just took my word for it. Let us know if you get an explanation. It's so weird isn't it!
PS I haven't had any more problems since my first post but still adding everything up just in case! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Ok - had a call today regarding the issues with this weeks delivery - I need to scan my delivery note for the previous week.
I think he would have just refunded, however I re-iterated that I expected an investigation not only of my receipt but HOW this could happen & how many people have effectively been overcharged without knowing - as who would expect to have to add up their printed receipts.... will update on the next stage.0 -
Presumably the difference isn't the delivery charge?0

Glad your getting somewhere with this MelJ. I got so frustrated with no-one understanding what I was talking about (probably because it sounds so ridiculous!) that I was just glad to get the difference back.
JimmyTheWig - wish I could scan one of the delivery notes to show you because you won't believe it til you see it. I've looked at it all ways to see where the difference comes from and if Tesco could explain it and it was just me being a bit daft I'd be happy with that but they can't explain why there's a difference. Also I have had other deliveries that total up correctly so I think that means it can't be me being daft! This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
