in Water bills
just moved and and united utilities have sent me a bill which works out at 40pm for the year, there is no meter, so its just a set charge. there are only two of us, so it just seems quite high. we were previously living in a one bed flat with a meter and it worked out about 25pm. does the council tax band have anything to do with prices? any help would be great

It's not the band but rather the rateable value, which is something that was set a long time ago and is still used today in determining unmetered customer bills. Given you know how much you payed on a meter before easiest thing to do would be to ask to have one fitted at your new address. There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.0 -
I agree with getting a meter, we are 2 in a 3 bedroom semi and my dd has just been reassessed for the year at £20make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
The RV has no relation to the Council Tax band or to the number of people in the property, and you cannot challenge it if the bill computation from the RV is correct.
Get a meter, revert to RV billing within a year if it's not cheaper. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
