Fuming! We have been with eon for at least 10 years. We moved into this property 4 years ago the previous owners were with British gas and on prepayment meters. We arrange to have eon take over our supply at the new house but they did want a certain amount , think it was £75 per meter, I phone BG and they said they would charge us £150 per meter .. Told them to sod off . Spoke to eon again to carry on the transfer and that we would try the prepay meters but if we were not happy we will change them. Anyway 4 years later we are still on the prepay meters as we find we are in control , no unexpected large bills or increasing dd.
well at the beginning od dec 12 we got a letter from BG in someone else name ( but our address) we phoned BG to inform them they had sent a letter for someone but had got the wrong address, they said thank you for calling we will sort it out. Week after another letter arrived for this guy so hubby phoned them again to be told thanks will make sure it does not happen again. Two days before Xmas yet another letter for the same guy, this time we could feel a prepayment key in it, alarm bells began to ring then so yet another call to BG . To be told they are in the process of taking our supply over from eon. We asked how can you? We have not asked you to and we have phoned you 3 times to tell you this guy does not live here and never as, they apologised again and said there must be a mistake , dam right there was.. We called eon and said we had not authorised this change and not to let it go ahead , they told us it was already going through and would be changed over on 15th jan. I asked why they hadn't informed us of this and she said she did not know why we had not been informed but we would have to get back I touch with BG to transfer us back as if we had never Left . Hubby did this and was told it would be organised. Week after Xmas two more letters and two more calls to BG. Also email to eon asking why we were not informed the reply was letter had be sent to us on 13th dec. I email back stating we had not got a letter and if we had it would of alerted us to this matter and we would of been on the phone to sort it and put a stop to it. Eon replied with not our fault, we gernated the letter not done to us once its in the postal system... Thanks eon for your concern!!!
As we had phoned British gas to transfer us back we believed this was being organised for us.
Couple days later two more letters for the guy so on the phone again, person I spoke to said he was unsure how to deal with this and that the last person we spoke to had put info on system but nothing else. He gave me the number to the complaints department. I phone the complaints department and explain everything,,, hurray.. Finally someone understands what has gone on . She reassures me she will deal with it from now on and not to worry admitted its BG fault and they will send us back to eon as if we had not left. I express concerns over how do I top up in the mean time, she told me to carry on with our prepayment cards ... We usually use around 2.50 per day gas and £3.00 electric.. We usually get our credit when I get paid each month around the 28th getting 60 or 70 gas and 70 or 80 electric.. Well yesterday we had go buy extra as the gas had ran out!,, that's a first for us in 4 years of using them. We put the gas to the test today because it used just over £4 and it was on between 4pm and 11pm ( knocking itself off at temp of 20 degrees) we advanced it for an hour today to see what it used. 78p for an hour.
With BG gas taking over the supply but for someone else I think we must be paying his debt!
Tried ring the complaints dept back today but its closed .
Feel like we getting nowhere with this ...
Sorry it's long winded, rant over x0 -

hi all,
I am not sure this makes a possible case.
I was on economy 7 for the whole period I was in my previous property.
In January 2012 the company (LoCo2) set up a direct debit of £50.
In January they revised it to £48.
in April i received a letter saying that they: a correct direct debit should have been £62 and that I had to pay £76 for 3 months to fill this gap.
I moved out of the property in May and they kept taking a direct debit of £76 for the month of June! I contacted them and have been told that they took the money as they couldn't cancel the DD without me providing the final reading (despite the fact someone came to the address to do the reading at the end of the month!) and them being advised by the beginning of may I was moving out.
They then deleted the DD before I provided them the final reading! (a bit incoherent!).
I provided the final reading and I've been told that I have further £150 pounds to pay on top of what I paid so far!
They did a huge mistake in estimating £48 against the £100 I should have paid!
I have asked them to return me the money they took without being authorised in June and to provide me a new bill with the actual meter readings - so I can claim the money from my ex-flatmate with whom I was sharing the flat.
the last contact I had was in November and they still haven't provided a final bill.
Do I have any case to say I've been mis-sold the energy provision? If I knew before they were so expensive I could have moved to another company!
Thanks,

I moved into a new house in 2007, and started paying my water bill to thames Water. This month I have just receieved a letter from Southern Water saying that they have no details of the occupiers and need to bill me for my waste water!
I have only ever dealt with a single water company for my previous houses so wasn't aware that this was possible.
I called them and they said it was down to the occupier to inform them when they move into a new house!
They did say that they won't charge me for the whole back dated period from 2007 and will charge me starting from 2011. The bill is for £557 and they have offered options to pay it in two installements which I guess is better than the whole lump sum.
I just wonder if they are in the wrong and I have any hope of refusing to pay a back dated bill I had no idea I was liable for until now. Apparently they have only just started looking at all properties in the area (Surrey) and will be notifying everyone who is not paying for waste water at present.
Any thoughts/help/ideas?
Thanks very much

Has anyone else had the problem where SSE simply took back their account after moving it to another provider? This happened to my wife and I 18 months after switching from SSE to Utility Warehouse. Out of the blue we received a bill for £2000+ for 18 months electricity when we have been paying UW for the same electricity! SSE admit they took back our account without asking our consent and despite the fact we have tried to have the account transferred back to UW they have insisted on paying off their balance (which we have paid most of to UW) before they can close our account and transfer it.
It sounds bizarre - it is. A month ago they added a new tarriff to our account to give us savings over the next two years, again without our consent. When I called to ask who agreed to this and explain we have been trying to leave for two years I was told that we have just re-signed for a two year contract at these rates? despite promising to send a copy opf the contract nothing has been forthcoming.
This must be mis-selling! I need to team up with anyone else who has had this problem - it's hard work fighting SSE on your own!

hi we moved to SSE via Marks and Spencers in \October 2011 on the basis that we would save approx £100 per annum on dual fuel scheme not a big saving but better than nothing, at the end of march 2013 we had a bill for just under £1000 for gas underpaid My husband called them and agreed to increas our standing order from £100 to £150 for gas only to pay off the underpayment, i felt that we should have queried it with them and complained, however we had a really cold winter in scotland and had heating on more than usual. my husband died in July this year and i have had to look at finances, in July i saw the headlines in press about the "marks and spencers mis selling scandal" and decided to call the company . the have phoned me several times and feel bamboozled by tarrifs and meter reading they have offered £50 compensation which i refused, have now called back suggesting that i can pay off the overpayment over 4 years at £19 per month andoffered me £100 off the debt,
just wondering if anyone else has had similar experience and if you think their offer is a good one0 -
I have just spotted that Npower online has not billed me for the 10 months I have been with them. I moved from British gas paying £101 per month to npower paying £85
I have just called to find out I owe them £700....!!!!! How can this even be possible!! I used uswitch as I always have...this can't be right surely...I would never have moved to someone more expensive...I'm at a loss now but it's being investigate...0 -
I have just received a refund of £73 from Scottishpower after misselling by a doorstep seller, this at first glance seemed OK but on reading their calculations they have refunded me just the difference of what I was paying to my previous supplier and the excess they charged me. This has got me really annoyed as they have not taken into account that I signed up with them because the door step seller told me I would save at least £20 a month because their tariffs were cheaper than who I was with at the time. I have lodged a complaint with them but should I be grateful of what I've got or fight for the principal of what I believe is now a miscalculation on their behalf (of which they say is laid down by OFGEM).0
