I'm interested in the NEA and will ask the job centre for more info the next time I sign on.

In the meantime, does anyone know if my business has to be based on NMW? As an employee, the best I can manage is about £70 a week better off after childcare is paid for. I'm therefore happy to earn this amount as self employed. But would this be too small a profit to be accepted as a viable business idea for NEA? (I do have a longer term plan to expand business but this would be over 12-18months).

Happy to report that my Tax Credits have been processed. It only took 2 weeks.

Pingu- i would imagine that is fine. It's something that you can discuss with your advisor at the JCP, if they are knowledgeable about NEA.

NEA are looking for you to be working in your business full time so they're not overly worried if you only return a small profit at first as they're aware that it takes time to get established.

However I was told on my course that on NEA you must show a profit right from your first month's trading.

Went to the library to have my documents printed up for tomorrow's meeting with my business adviser and I was pleasantly surprised to see how professional it looked, seeing it on paper as it were.

Just an aside but it pleased me. :D

A start date to start trading. Ixion have a "hive" of mentors, you're not allocated to a specific one. I've been advised that if you have a problem or query you can visit the hive and ask for advice (much like on here!) as the mentors specialise in their fields of expertise that they're happy to advise on.

Or I can contact my business adviser and ask her but she will refer me to the hive - she said that's the best place.

But as my OH has had his own business in the past, he's going to be my first port of call tbh he's been so supportive and helpful during this whole build-up. I don't think I could have got this far without his input, guidance and encouragement. :D
