There is a thread on here that was added a few days after receiving my letter, where a woman is stating she received the letters and ignored as advised and she has now been served with court papers. Can't remember the name of the thread off top of my head but it has court in the title, take a look. That is the thread that has me concerned.

You don't need to worry even if you do receive "court papers".

THe PPC will lose in court; the simplest of cases to defend.

So ignore, ignore, ignore some more is still the motto [unless it's proper "court papers"].

Typical Troll posted up asking for help, then never came back, nor have they posted on pepipoo or Cag.

We have seen many of these so called court claims, they are never backed up!

I recall her, the one I am thinking was not the one linked above but she was clearly a PPC troll (very common on here as they hate our advice and they often post as women for some reason!) - her posts made no sense. The troll I am thinking of reckoned she had used a pepipoo defence, gone to Court and lost - but she said the defence was 'all about the RTA Act' which is a total lie, as was the imaginary Court case.

    Stop worrying.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you very much. It wasn't the one in the link above it is the thread with a title something along the lines of parking eye court action, it was quite a recent one and yes she stated she used a pepipoo defense etc etc. As i said previously, i was all set for totally ignoring it, and then saw that thread which struck me as genuine, although i am new to this and so honestly don't know what i am looking for with regards to trolls, hence asked for advice. I really appreciate all the responses and reassurances. I have received two letters so far, the initial one, then the one with my picture of the car front and back, although this didn't panic me as i had seen the thread telling you which letters to expect, and not only that, the pictures could be absolutely anywhere, so wasn't too concerned. Visited said place today and there are signs now, and i am unsure if these have recently been put up, or if i have noticed them due to the letters, but i have honestly never before seen them. I have spent a lot of money at said store in the past few months and have not noticed them once, although the corner to get to the car park is a very bad one, and so evem if they were there, you are not likely to see them due to the concentration it takes to get around the corner successfully without either hitting something coming in the other direction, or smashing your tyres and alloys against the curb! You would think it would be better signed, perhaps even in the shop front, although i guess that defeats the object and reduces parking eye's chances of getting money via scams such as these! Thanks so much for everyone's help and comments, i shall keep you posted on further letters/action, although here's hoping there is none!
  • Just to keep everyone posted, i received a third letter yesterday, this time informing me that the fine had increased to £80, and that if it is not paid within 5 working days, this will then go to £110. It continues to say that if i fail to pay following this they will have no choice but to 'instruct our debt collection agency to secure immediate payment, commencing court proceedings, through our solicitors, if required. Therefore to avoid future and unnecessary action, please pay the outstanding Parking Charge at the final reduced amount (£80), for WHAT WAS A CLEAR CONTRAVENTION OF THE PARKING REGULATIONS.'
It then goes on to say that the consequences of not paying and subsequent legal proceeings, are that 'you could receive a Judgement and, if you ignore that, a baliff/sheriff may attend your address to remove goods.'

I have to say i actually laughed at this letter. The quote in capitals was the first thing that made me laugh, as i do not agree that i clearly contravened parking regulations, and so will not pay as this is an admission of 'guilt' that i do not agree with. The last statement also had me laughing, as i am pretty sure (although please do correct me if i am wrong) that no matter who the 'baliff/sheriff' may be, it is illegal to enter my property and remove goods, and that legally i do not even have to answer the door, let alone allow them entry to my property?

Anyone else received this kind of letter, and if so what happened following this? Just wondering how long it will be before i receive these 'court papers' etc, as i believe this is what i should be expecting next?

    Thanks in advance guys,
    BBB x

You are correct in everything except its not a "fine". I would like to see them go to court and show the "PARKING REGULATIONS" you contravened!

I wouldn't buy a new suit for court just yet!:D
