Conned on ebay AGAIN...what can I do?

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping to get some advice on what I can do....I've bought Benefit cosmetics from ebay (yes, stupid idea, I know:P) in the past, and lost money after discovering the items were fake.
I've been more careful after so many bad experiences. There was a Benefit item for sale recently, slightly used,e.g tested....it made sense that it'd be on ebay as if the buyer had purchased and tested they wouldn't be entitled to a refund for hygiene reasons?....So ebay would be a good way of getting rid and making money if it was the wrong colour etc...
But, to be sure, I messaged the seller and she assured me it was 100% genuine and that she'd purchased it from Boots.
So, I went ahead and bid and paid a relatively high price for it...but thought it'd be worth it as it was a genuine item.
HOWEVER I have received the item and there are lots of signs it's a fake. I've watched a video on youtube on how to spot a fake and this item has basically every sign of a fake listed. The code on the back of the item case, and then on the back of the products inside, are different....apparently that is a sure sign of fake items. Also, I have most of the products in the kit anyway and they smell, look and feel nothing like the products in this new kit.
I'm pretty sure it's fake...but how do I prove it? The seller says she's bought it from Boots...so what can I do?
I would normally just admit defeat but the fact that I explained to the seller I'd been stung before...I'm fed up of it. But what can I do?
Any advice will be really gratefully appreciated!

You will probably have to return at your expense, but whether it's worth it depends on how much it cost you.0 -
Tell the seller that on researching the item, you've discovered that it's a fake and that you want a refund.
If refused, put a claim in to ebay, saying that the item wasn't as described and is a fake!0 -
I'm sure I read someone said to take it into a benefit store to confirm if it is a fake or not - if it is report to ebay and claim through paypal (assuming you used that method of payment?)0

If you hav been stung before why continue buying the product.
Apologies if not what you wanted to hear but its true,0 -

do you think someone that is selling fake goods are going to tell you that it is fake? they are going to tell you its genuine.
in otherwords if you emailed me and asked if i was king of england and i said i was , would you believe me. I dont think so, but anyone will tell you what you want to here.
as DCFC79 states if you have been stung before buying this product on ebay then why continue to buy it on ebay.0 -
File an item not as described claim via ebay - it is then the sellers responsibility to prove that the item is genuine.
How did you pay for the item?Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
LOL, OP I have some benefit makeup thats genuine for sale, I assure you its genuine....would I lie.....PM me your paypal addy and i'll send you a payment request.
(heads of to google to see what benefit makeup is lol)
Seriously though, if you can prove its a fake, by getting a retailer to confirm it not a youtube video then start a claim for a fake item. Ebay shouldn't make you return it as its fake and you'll get a refund.
p.s I got a couple of cucci watches that are genuine too if you want them, i'll do you a good deal!!! 99% genuine!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Just cut your losses with ebay and start buying elsewhere0

I'm with this. Cosmetics are pretty personal - you stick them on your face! Just bite the bullet, Lolita, and buy full price for something like that. You don't want fakes, nor do you want testers that people have rubbed over their lips, eyeballs and herpes sores! Do this. Make sure its an ebay dispute.browneyedbazzi wrote: »File an item not as described claim via ebay - it is then the sellers responsibility to prove that the item is genuine.
