Broadband Checker

Is not entirely accurate!
1. Says Primus available at my post code. Signed up. They set up a direct debit. THEN, after a week and a hal, they emailed to say :"The LLU phone and Broadband package is not compatible with the exchange."
2.The Orange rate for Orange mobile customers requires one to top up every 6 months - slightly misleading to say :"meaning anyone can get the cheaper rate - but you'll need to have topped up by at least £10 in the last three months." ?

That means that your line is already LLU'd to another provider, you need to have your line on the BT network in order to have service from Primus (i.e. pay line rental either to them or to BT). You'll probably need to take your line back to BT on a free 'return to donor'.

Don't understand! Primus at first said they would connect a new line. There is no line at present - it is a newly built house with all the wiring in place. The developer said I could arrange a service with the supplier I chose....

Since then I've tried others - the general picture is that they say get BT to connect and switch the line to us after a year. It's not that they can't connect apparently. O2 for example, say they could but it is more trouble than it is worth to them and suggest it would be easier to go to BT who have the engineers available to connect new lines. I used to wonder why people were prepared to pay extra for BT but I'm beginning to understand!!!!

Apologies, I posted to the wrong thread.
Yes, it's BT Openreach who physically connect you, but most providers can arrange this.
    What exchange are you on?
Is it a non-BT area (Kingston Communication area)?
