Cheapest Connection Charge for new Phoneline and Broadband?

Hi

I've just moved into a new flat and been look at getting o2 or sky for my broadband and phone line. However i keep getting quoted stupid connection charges £83 from o2, £85 from Be and £100 frorm sky.

Is there any where i can get a cheaper connection charge, it seems a rip! I know sky will give me a cheaper one if i take their tv which might work out to be the same money in the long run.

I'm looking for a fast speed which im told i can get between 12 and 18meg which is perfect.

But the connection charge is killing me at the moment is there any way round. When i signed up to sky last year for just phone line and broadband i only paid £30.

Any help?

Thanks

Those charges are pretty much typical at present. BT will charge you £130.
Plusnet do a line reconnection for about £70 I think.

If you can get cable and take the phone too you get free install and 6 months free plus there is virtually always a cashback deal running at Quidco TopCashBack or SimplifyDigital.

    eg 30Mbps..

    £9.25 a month for 6 months then £18.50 a month + £13.90 for the phone
costs £334.80 for the year or £27.90 a month.

There is currently £151.50 cashback from TopCashBack - ends in 5 days but there will no doubt be something else that follows it. Assuming you can get that cashback that takes it down to £183.30 or £15.27 a month which is ~ £4 above the BT line rental and you don't fork out anything for the install. After the first year cancel the phone or the whole thing.
  • I had this very problem is December, the best I could find was with Plusnet (£50) but if you go through TopCashBack you'll get £38.38 back so only worked out at £12.62 for the install.

    Hope this helps
If it wasn't for the mistakes I made in the past (and learned from), I wouldn't be who and where I am today. It doesn't matter if you've cocked up, what matters is that you put it right and apologise. x
