Silly, wrong NationalRail link poster!!!

Hello WW
You're right, tickets aren't available for Nov 23rd, so I inputted a few Saturday dates in October, to see what came up and they are all returning the same fare of £11.60 for 2 adults and 2 children on Anytime Day Returns (I should have said that I have a F+F railcard, sorry).
It may be that we book Cumbria to Richmond tickets. Or do a split Cumbria to Euston, Euston To Richmond. (I've looked at a dummy booking for 29.10.11 and going Cumbria to Euston via Man Pic, to Vauxhall to Richmond and the same trip in reverse, will come out at £69.80 for the four of us. We'd get to Richmond for 12.12 and leave Richmond at 18.34, getting home just before midnight. I could live without being routed via Man Pic, but for that fare and for those timings, it would be acceptable. )
My currrent favourite train ticket booking site is Take The Train0 -
Thank you very much to everyone who helped me on this thread. I've just booked my tickets tonight and I'm going Cumbria to London (via Man Pic), Euston to VXH on the underground and VXH to RMD on Southwest trains. Coming back its the same journey, without the Manchester diversion--- and for four of us, we get change from £60, plus 8 free MP3 downloads from Take The Train. Bargain.0

:Dgood grief - doesn't time fly !
The weekend of the fixture has finally come around and hopefully there are no transport 'issues' that are going to affect us.
So now, the only considerations are whether to have bacon or sausage sandwiches on the train and red sauce or brown;)
Murph
p.s. does anyone have a rough idea of the anticipated attendance ? My son asked me and I didn't have a clue.0 -

Murph, The TfL travel site shows the Victoria line offering a full service this weekend, but does say the transfer between the underground and mainline station is affected and suggests going via Waterloo, which is straight down the Northern line (west end branch). You'll have more chance of a seat at Waterloo than Vauxhall for sure as well as more trains, not all trains to Richmond from Waterloo call at Vauxhall.
By the by the BaBa's games are usually very well supported, the BaBa's squad this weekend will be a mixture of both codes and invited players from northern hemisphere national teams.
My bet will be on a full house.0 -
I reckon it will be full attendance (about 82,000 I think)?0

My brain is not too hot today but I don't think anyone has mentioned the bus from Richmond to the ground
Follow the crowd turning right out of the station - go down the alley beside the Carluccios opposite and there'll be a load of buses waiting to take you for about 50 p very quickly to the ground
And then back at the end of the game
Leastways they were there for the club game in September

Thanks for that. I did wonder why we weren't routed via Waterloo from the word go !. I think that we'll go with this route, as it offers us masses of traion options to get to the ground ASAP.I reckon it will be full attendance (about 82,000 I think)?
My goodness. Initially i thought that there may be about 40000-45000 at the game. The lads will absolutey love it if theres as many as that.johnnyreggae wrote: »My brain is not too hot today but I don't think anyone has mentioned the bus from Richmond to the ground

Brilliant Johnnie, that'll work well for us. We're fancying a couple of beers before the game, so a quick and handy bus option will be grand. Afterwards, we've got ages before our train back North, so it'll be good to be able to realx and enjoy the moment !0 -

Of course when you are Waterloo there is the world famous Hole in the Wall pub (their slogan not mine) it will be ram jam full of rugby types. It is as I understand very well known in rugby circles.

I'm off to the rugby this weekend, after reading this thread i think i may have dropped the "egg" slightly!!!
I've made plans to be back in dover for 19:00.. which would be fine if it wasn't for the other 81,998 people trying to get on the train LOL0
