I advertised a holiday voucher on ebay. A local bidder asked i could remove them from sale and offered me £55 cash for the voucher.
As the offer was good and he lived local i accepted. Met him in public place and we exchanged goods. He seemed like genuine person as he even provided me his home address and number, although i refused to meet him at his home or provide my details.
Anyway the voucher was a 241 booking voucher.
A few hours later he just sent me a message stating he did not realise there was a min spend as it was a 241 and wants me to give his money back.
what shall i do?
My risk is that i pulled the voucher from ebay and i have no idea to check if he has used the voucher code already.
any advice welcome.

How did he pay you? If cash when you handed over the voucher, I'd tell him to whistle. If via PayPal I guess he can open a dispute.0

He paid cash, it wasn't an ebay sale, so unfortunately for him he should have checked t&c's first.0

No the transaction had nothing to do with ebay. I made an ebay listing which explained the voucher T&Cs clearly. He asked me to take remove the listing and payed me cash outside ebay. We exchanged several messages via ebay PMs and i made it clear the voucher was a 241 which is what he wanted.
I am quite shocked as he seemed a nice friendly old man, maybe too friendly!0 -
He should have read the t & cs before handing his cash over, tell him to take a long walk off a short pier.
Or just tell him sorry but youve spent it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

He did have time to read the T&C's though if they were listed in the auction like the OP said. I wouldn't give him cash back as he wanted to take the sale off ebay. He really should have checked, double checked and then paid not paid then checked!!
The buyer decided to forfeit his protection of paying through paypal and having it delivered. No doubt someone will pipe up shortly saying that the buyer has all these rights and you should refund but how do you know he hasn't used the voucher already!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

bit suprised as he appeared to be a very nice person especially as he disclosed his house address and phone number without me asking.0 -
when i listed this on ebay i made it clear in first sentence and title it was a 241 voucher plus i listed the voucher company website.
bit suprised as he appeared to be a very nice person especially as he disclosed his house address and phone number without me asking.
But did you make it clear that there was a minimum spend?
I know that there's nothing that the other guy can do but it's the minimum spend you said he hadn't known about.
I guess the bit " I am quite shocked as he seemed a nice friendly old man, maybe too friendly!"
has made me re-read your original post.
Why would you refuse to give the nice friendly old man your details, if you were as genuine as he seemed?0 -

Thanks for your message. I just read the T&Cs and it does state min spend just says tickets from £99 for the 241.
i never give out my personal details to anyone hence why i met him in a public place nor did i ask him for his details, he gave them to me as he suggested i could drop off at his house, then i said no easier out in town.
This person has sent me 3 messages now explaining he wants his money back! but even if i pay him back i have no idea if he has used or copied down the voucher codes.
To be honest it was pretty clear in my ebay listing and PMs that this was a 241 code so not sure what he was expecting!
any advice welcome as i hope this does not go out of control.0 -
From a buyers point of view, I would have been happy to pay cash for the item on collection but having met you somewhere other than your home would make me suspicious. Whilst you don't have to give him the money back what you put in the listing isn't very clear now. Whilst ou may have stated it was a 241 if it has a minimum spend aswell then maybe that should have been pointed out.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
