Is this that you are moving to another tariff (either with Eon or another company) or are they just saying that as the tariff is finishing you'll be charged? You're not entirely clear in the post which it is...

    Hi Apathy,

I'm also not too clear on what you mean here.

SaveOnline 3 ends on 1 November 2011 and you may be charged the cancellation fee if you change supplier/tariff before this end date.

If you remain on the tariff and complete the contract, you wouldn't be charged the fee.

If you need any further info, just let me know.

    Helena :)

Sorry i said to them i wanted to change supplier and leave eon, they said they will not charge a fee if i change tariffs within eon? I'm getting annoyed by this 'manager' or whatever he claims to be.,.,..I told them the rights and stuff but they said it was a standard procedure letter they send to all customers and that i must fulfil the contract or be charge the exit fees............

Edit: why am i being charged, it's not a fixed tariff, i heard other people can change without being charged. E.g look at this post
    Hi Lifes Grand Plan

If you leave because of the price increase, you'll not be affected by the new rates or receive a cancellation fee.

This is provided you let us know your intentions before 13 September 2011 and your preferred supplier contacts us within 15 working days of you telling us you're leaving.

Just a quick heads up; please be aware, we don't give discount on final bills when changing supplier unless a contract has been completed.

Hope this clears this up Lifes Grand Plan. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

I think Apathy is talking about not paying exit penalty when the provider puts up prices. I think Helena needs to provide the correct form of words, otherwise the north east region manager doesn't get the message.

Any fixed length contract will have a cancelation fee, not just fixed price ones. If you look at the t&c's for it I'm fairly sure you will see the cancelation fee listed in there.

As for not charging because of the price increase, every supplier so far has waved the leaving fee at the point that the prices went up, however, I don't know if Eon are (it seems very likely, but I don't know for sure). If you wait a little bit then you should get a letter detailing the increases and stating whether you can leave without being charged or not. Once you have that then you can call up and inform them you're leaving and they have to let you go.

Edit: Now that you've added Malc's quote to your above post, that answers whether they're waving the fee or not. As long as you said it was because of the price increase when you called them then they shouldn't be trying to charge you at all...

If you are changing supplier before your tariff end date then you may be charged the cancellation fee, as this will be in the T&C's.

Many tariff's have cancellation fees that aren’t fixed or capped.

If you are changing supplier due to the price increase and advise E.ON of this, then you wouldn't be charged the cancellation fee
and your preferred supplier would need to contact us within 15 working days of you advising you're leaving.

So who should i contact if they (customer services) keep telling me that i will get charged regardless of the terms and conditions that you've just detailed to me? Thanks Helena :)

P.S IS it possible to apply to switch to a different supplier now, since i have technically contacted them, and they've informed me on the website of the price changes and definitely NOT be worried about being charged. I mean the EDF fixed deal is about to expire.......

Have you actually received the price increase letter yet? Have you actually stated that you want to leave because of the subsequent price increase?

Come to us :) you can use the email address in my profile page :D

But I'm not sure who you have been speaking to, but they should know if a customer advises us they are leaving due to the price increase and they tell us this and the new supplier contact us within 15 working days then you won't be charged the cancellation fee.

So I'm sorry about the confusion.
