Unpleasant seller

Sellers should treat eBay items as anything else they get paid for - with a reasonably high priority. That's just as good manners as it is for buyers to pay promptly.
If someone worked shifts then I'd probably understand, but aggressive answers like that are just going to annoy the most important people - the people who otherwise might have been a repeat customer.
The seller does work shifts, they told the OP that after the 2nd email.
I am just trying to be the voice of reason here, the seller shouldn't have marked as dispatched, but the OP has been impatient.
The seller seems to have cracked by the third email and replied with a short curt response, but I believe this is only because the OP has asked for a refund, sent 3 emails and been impatient.0 -
If somehting is NOT marked as despatched then I don't expect it to arrive, if a seller has time to faff around marking my items despatched and then just ignoring them then I think I am right to feet aggrieved.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If a seller works shifts rather than a 9 to 5 job it should be easier for them to get to a PO than most people. Very poor attitude and service - deserves low stars at the least.0

Marking depatched when it is not is wrong but it is not the end of the world I guess.
Another consideration is within how long did the seller say she will despatch the item? In my opinion, ultimately if she did not despatch the item within the timeframe she said she would, then unless there is a very good reason for it, the seller is in the wrong.
But given the aggressiveness of her response, I would leave neutral at best, but more likely neg0 -

The seller seems to have cracked by the third email and replied with a short curt response, but I believe this is only because the OP has asked for a refund, sent 3 emails and been impatient.I bought 2 items from a seller, the first on Sat 30th and the second on Sun 31st.I emailed to advise that I had bought both and would it be ok if she posted together, I never asked for discount postage and she didn't offer. She replied on Monday that she had already sent the 1st one out and would get the 2nd one posted. The 1st arrived Wed 3rd and I expected the 2nd to arrive soon after as she had marked it as dispatched. I emailed on Saturday as I had not received it and I am going away tonight. She replied with
as i explained i had already posted the first one.before you bought the second one, the other one will be posted as soon as, i get everyones parcels in order, as i work shifts sorry.
My reply:
I bought the 1st one on Saturday and the 2nd on Sunday so I cannot understand how you would have managed to post out in between ! Are you saying the 2nd one hasn't even been sent as it is now a week and you have marked it has dispatched !If it hasn't been sent please refund and cancel as I go away tomorrow.
Just had the following (all in capitals)
Firstly, the OP emailed the following Saturday after purchase (6 days), this was the FIRST email asking where the item was. Secondly, they asked for a refund IF it hadn't been sent.
OP hasn't said what the dispatch estimates were, so really, no one can say if the seller is late (in sending) or not. However, her response is dreadful and she should receive the appropriate feedback.
Voice of reason you are not.0 -
As Martin said working shifts means that at some point every day during post office times you are at home. I always found it much easier to post when I did shift work then when I worked 9-5.
There is no excuse for rudeness, the lying would p me off as a buyer, the rude email would make me seeth.0 -
I was thinking that shift work might mean someone is trying to sleep during the day and going out after closing time as much as it meant that they were more, not less flexible than someone who was doing a 9 to 5 job.
But if that were the case trying to sell on eBay would be a complete non-starter anyway, because it takes a lot of effort and is not just a question of taking the buyer's money and then sending whenever you get a spare moment. Treating the buyer right should not be extra - it should be standard for most reasonable people and if it is not a priority for that seller then they will lose crucial ground on feedback and eventually - eventually - be booted.
I'm sorry, but no-one giving me money would have to wait 6 days for the job to be done, whether it was an eBay sale or a payment for typing or research."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
