Thank u for your support citizen jones, as for mr pope & the Mildred crew. All I can say is how sad u r? Supporting these ruthless so called insurers who are not fit for purpose causing heartache and pain to ordinary folk who pay premiums year on year thinking they r insured only to realise when it comes to a claim that the insurer will find any excuse and means to abdicate their responsibility! please find another forum, perhaps the insurer's fan club.. Lol
Anyway, I have today received the final letter from esure choosing to keep their position to void my policy and sent off my complaint to the FOS.0 -
I didn't want anything more than esure to accept I was insured and not void my policy so I have to carry this label year on year for the rest of our lives as fraudsters or criminals. They are the criminals here for abdicating their responsibility as they could have dealt with this situation by simply settling my jewellery claim on invoice value which is what I insured rather than actual value. They did not have to void the policy as they accepted the misprepesenation was an oversight and not deliberate. Instead they chose to damn an ordinary family from obtaining insurance in future at normal rates. I have today sent this letter to Curry's who sold my wife a whatever happens policy which does not cover theft despite being called whatever happens.
Dear sir/madam
This is to complain about how my wife was mis-sold the above policy and a HFC bank when she visited the Bradford Forster Square Curry's store. Basically my wife was sold a Hewlett Packard DV6-21145 laptop computer on a buy now pay later scheme from HFC Bank. Alongside this she was offered a "whatever happens" club policy.!
My wife was told this policy would cover whatever happens (as the name suggests) damage, breakdown, loss or theft of the machine and included technical support and an annual tune up service. Sadly we were burgled in April this year and the laptop was one of stolen items. We made a home insurance contents claim and the insurers suggested we claim for the laptop separately given we had the "whatever happens" cover for it. When we called the "whatever happens" club on 19.04.11 they said the cover did not include theft and suggested they would cancel the policy given there was no point paying for a policy when we no longer had the laptop.!
Thus, we claimed for the laptop theft through our insurers esure with the rest of our losses. Sadly, we have this week been told by our insurers that they have voided our policy because we were inadvertently underinsured due to some longstanding jewellery prices having risen fourfold. We have today made a complaint to the FOS regarding esure and it's avoidance policy.
However, we are having to pay HFC Bank £26.62 per month for something we don't even have and all because your salesman mis-sold my wife an inadequate policy called whatever happens which should have covered this loss. Therefore, we ask if you will investigate this matter and respond accordingly so we are clear if we need to refer this matter to the FOS too.0 -
I'm not a fan of insurance companies, but I don't hand out hundreds of pounds every year without knowing exactly what I'm buying. With home and car insurance I spend around £2600 per year. It's worth the 10 minutes or so that it takes to read what they send me to check it dies what I need it to.
And having a policy voided is different to it being cancelled. You shouldn't be penalised for the voiding as you would be were it cancelled.
Your rant about another insurance policy you bought without bothering to read does not help your case!Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Just popped into Swintons to set up new buildings and contents policy as this week is renewal date had I stayed with esure. Anyway, out of all the insurers who quoted non would offer to cover us when Swintons called and explained that we had insurance voided to inception date. Most just simply refused and didn't want any explanation. The one's who allowed an explanation still refused despite being informed that esure voided on basis of underinsurance on high risk items lost, but not an issue anymore as not replaced longstanding jewellery.
Eventually swinton put me through to their specialist arm known as Walmsleys from Wigan who empathised with our situation and managed to get a specialist qoute for £550 which is more than double what we paid last year (£180 for both contents and buildings). So we will suffer a heavy price year on year due to ruthless esure underwriters who voided our policy rather than settling at reduced % or on invoice value of what we insured. That's on top of the losses from the burglary (worth £16,000) which we have no where to claim from. Ironically, the swinton staff were saying how they had seen another customer the day before in our situation with esure. They said they dont use esure on their panel of insurers and wouldnt touch them with a bargepole!
Thanks esure for causing us ongoing hardship, misery and heartache all because we made a genuine mistake undervaluing our contents as do 90% of the UK population according to statistics.0 -

I cannot for one minute believe that 90% of the population under insure on home insurance. The vast majority of household plans for nearly 20 years have been automatic sum insured plans with the sum insured much higher than the total required amount.
That said. I can imagine quite a lot of people with high risk items or personal possessions failing to name high value items when they should do. Either on purpose or accidentally.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
