Barclaycard payment - payment taken from bank account, not reflected on B'card OLB

I have checked my Barclays online banking over the weekend, and the direct debit has been taken out to pay my Barclaycard bill (dated for 08/08/2011). 08/08/2011 is the payment due date according to the Barclaycard online banking. It's good I have paid it on time.

However, after checking the Barclaycard online banking, the balance hasn't been paid/reduced, despite the DD amount from my Barclays bank account being taken.

Should I be worried? Or should I assume it will update later on?

I have the same set up for overpaying and it normally takes around 3-5 days for the payment to show on the barclaycard. However, it's likely you will receive a large charge as if your due date is today, and you only paid today it won't clear in time. On the statements it always says to allow 3-5 days for the payment to clear in time for your due date.

I have a barclaycard and pay through my bank internet banking and It usually updates the next day to show the payment and my reduced balance.

I am not sure about DD but it should update tomorrow.

The direct debit has been setup a long time.

I checked my Barclays online banking on a Friday AND over the weekend, and it says the DD has been taken from my bank account (dated 08/08/2011). I hope/assume it will update either later on today or tomorrow.... I'm worried.

    It's also a big balance over £500...

Calm down if it does not show tomorrow then call them.

It sounds like you have the same statement date as me because my payments are due on the eighth of the month as well but I paid my bill weeks ago.

Even though, the DD has been taken from my bank account, I will still get charged? That means if I pay by DD, I will get charged in the long term, as it takes a few days to clear??

It's my first DD for the card by the way.

You paid by debit card, but not DD though. Not sure if it makes a difference.

Yes, looks like we got the same date. :)

Apologies, I missed that it was a DD. If that's the case it should be fine but if it doesn't show in a few days call them to make sure they got the details right.

I pay through my bank internet banking setting Barclaycard up as payment and the money is transfered to them right away. The payment shows up in about 1-2 days and my balance is reduced as well.

I have been with Barclaycard since December 2010 and I have never had any problems paying this way.

    Thanks for help guys.

I hope it will update sometime today, or update by tomorrow. If it doesn't, I hope they will accept my explaination and not charge me (I will provide proof such as a screenshot it necessary to them).

    Hi Book12,

In theory, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. The timing of the direct debit payment is up to Barclaycard and they will have taken it out in time to meet your payment due date. The only thing I'm not too clear about though is that I think you said in one post that the direct debit had been set up for a long time, but in a later post that this was your first payment on the card? Maybe you could clarify this as it might be important?!
