  • Have a look at temperatures you don't really want somewhere very hot for the little one. Have you considered Iceland? You can do bird, seal and whale watching along the coast.

  • I went to cyprus with my daughter aged about 4 months and she developed a fever, the hotel tried to get a doctor but he never answered, i ended up getting a late night chemist to open up in middle hours of morning and having to drive to get medicine to reduce the fever. that was quite scary as was waiting forever next to a bloomin sex shop:eek:
thankfully my mom was with baby at hotel and stripped her down etc but i wouldnt want to go through that in the middle of nowhere.
also think of what vacs your baby may need etc and how they will cope in exteme heat x

    thank you for the advice.

Yes you are quite right would hate to be without a good medical facility near by just in case. One of my friends, luckily a nurse, saved a young boy on holiday in Turkey that had fallen through glass door and sustained a severe bleed to his neck. In short the ambulance was too long and luckily she saw it happening and intervened, and travelled to the hospital to advise. The family were very grateful to her help, but not so impressed by the emergency services response.

  • the Azores boast wildlife and lovely scenery, in the canaries you could try La palma which has stunning scenery ( rent privately to get the most out of this lovely island).
lots of places in europe boast wildlife although not lions and tigers lol, ive seen snakes the width of the road in greece:eek:
i used to live in the dominican republic and loved the birds you get out there, i had a pet lizard lol food wise and health wise they are on the ball, never got poisoned ever although the credit goes to the cook there!
trinidad would be a good place to go ive allways thought (out of my price range till i retire though:( id love to see the lemurs etc.
if your baby is still small and breastfed then that cuts out a lot of problems tbh as you dont get the risk of contamination etc.
personally i prefer winter travel with my kids to somewhere sunny but not baking as babies can overheat quite rapidly.
i think that may have been what happened to my daughter as when i was in cyprus it was hot and sunny then the next day we had snow and then back to full on sun! so she was dressed up, stripped down then back in woolies!:(
I spent 5 weeks the xmas before last in lanzarote in a village called tahiche, we used to go for walks in the volacanic landscape daily, it was ace, no one else about just us and the migrating birds:o

  • We went to Santorini, a greek island and didn't change our son's body clock at all. It was 2 hours later there so instead of getting up at 7am like he does here, it was 9am, we had breakfast at 10am their time (8am here), lunch at 2pm there (12 noon) and dinner at 7pm (5pm here). He then went to bed at 9.30pm thinking it was his normal bedtime.

The time difference worked perfectly for us, it gave us the chance to relax a little and not be tied to the apartment from 7pm each evening. I would thoroughly recommend it if you can make it work for you.
