Happy Birthday Molly:bdaycake:!!! Hope you have a lovely holiday with your family......

Made my first ever lemon drizzle cake yesterday.....took about 2/3 of it last night to a girls night for a friend who is moving away this week...and left the rest at home, ..rolled in around midnight and found that dh had polished off the rest of the cake.......now he never eats cake with any kind of fruit in it and rarely enthuses about anything I make, [sad I know but thats the way he is]. First thing this morning he asks who made the cake?.......Duh . who do you think?......and even halfheartedly complemented me on it...... wonders will never cease..........

    Afternoon all!
Been in town today with DD as she looked for holiday clothes. Had my eyes tested as I have been struggling to read with current specks, need reading glasses now so opted for varifocals to try, daughter gave me a half price voucher for them so they were ONLY £225!! Half price??????
Will need a stiff GnT to recover!

Happy birthday Molly, enjoy your holiday.

have been evicted from my kitchen as OH and DD2 are cooking dinner....pork chops, potatoes and mange tout, we are all having a choc ice for pudding, ages since I had one so a nice treat.

Lots of rain showers with sun in between so a strange day, think that I will hang out the washing anyway as have more to do and it won't all fit on airers.

81 year old cousin who is the 'patriarch' of my father's side of the family has had a stroke and is currently paralysed and has seriously slurred speech, brain doesn't seem to be affected so hopefully he will make a good recovery, have sent him a message that he is not to consider anything else as an option, only his children are allowed visit at present, so getting news through them, feeling very sad...

Kerry was lovely, we managed to visit the Great Blasket Island and have a lovely walk around there, brought a picnic. I hadn't been there in more than 20 years and was pleased that very little had changed, although saw no rabbits, apparently some genius 'imported' minks some years ago and they have seen off the rabbits....when the island was inhabited they were a very valuable food supplement.

Glad that DD2 is here at present, she lives in Islington so nice that she is not there for the riots.

Am still catching up on what I missed when away so will just wish everybody well, have a hug or two if you want.

    Molly - Happy birthday!!

Meanmarie -sending good vibes to your cousin x

I am home from work, OH expects to be leaving work at about midnight (1hr30 commute too!) so need to prep his dinner somewhat so that it's quick to cook on his return.
He's got Lamb Chop, i think i'll do roasties and veg with it. I have some whoopsied pork meatballs, which i'll do with some tom and basil sauce which i will cook the grill with a cheese topping and serve with a WW baguette i've got kicking around in the freezer.

Got lunches to make, some clothes to put away, and a puppy to walk.

Might be going to my mum's house to help my dad put up a fence panel - awaiting his phone call! Weather is iffy though, so might not happen.

    Speak later all!

    Happy birthday Molly.

Well I've found out a few more details, apparently DS' Wood Green store was ransacked and set alight but luckily didn't burn, the Tottenham store wasn't touched and the Walthamstow store had the front window broken.

There's not a lot he can do at the moment so he's not coming back from holiday.

My new worry is DD who lives in Hackney where there is rioting at the moment. I've spoken toher and it isn't in the area where she lives but I'm still concerned.

    Ev'nin' all,
Marie - hope your patriarch makes a speedy recovery x
Had a completely full line of washing out in the sunshine this morning. All of a sudden it went a bit dark, couple of large raindrops and then the heavens opened!!!! We were drenched, but the washing was all but dry, and just needed a little tumble to air it.

Trying to make sure we have nothing left in the fridge by the time we go on holidays. Everyone is so looking forward to the break :) I love it when we are all together.
    Have a good evening m'dears, Silver x

Just seen the London Riots, glad your DS was nowhere near snoozer. Luckily they have not been too near our DS either, though Wood Green not a million miles away.

DH reckons they should send the paras in ;)

Many many thanks for al the lovely birthday wishes. I feel overwhelmed. I have had a lovely day with some nice surprises and very thoughtful gifts from all my children and their dad.

We arrived at CP and have settled in although we are tired tonight. I have just caught the news and my thoughts are with those either directly or indirectly involved.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
