This is about getting to interview stage not just being an applicant

    Absolutely!

I had two interviews within a week recently (although still employed).

No feedback whatsoever although (unsurprisingly) the companies were using an agency to recruit. Incidentally, it was for a professional position-although the status of the role should be irrelevant in respect of providing feedback or the outcome of an interview to a candidate.

Nigel Wright was the recruiter on both occasions and I had a similar situation with them a few years ago - a truly awful organisation who don't seem to give a toss to those who are unsuccessful following an interview.

I rarely got any feedback after attending interviews with agencies. They would most of the time phone me up about an hour before the interview to wish me good luck and that was that.

It took me a while before I realised why they were doing this. It wasn't so much to wish me good luck but to make sure that I was on my way to attend the interview. It was more important to them that I attended the interview as they didn't want to upset their darling clients with a no show. They have their head so far up their clients backsides that any further it would be stuck:mad:

I attended an interview for a job I applied for directly last year and I got annoyed that over a week later I still hadn't heard anything. Half way though the week they called and offered me the job. I was convinced that I must have been second choice but it turned out to be the overly complicated approval process.

Had one last week and the agency called me the day after to say they wanted me but there were approvals to wait or in the companies IT system. Same response still, 3 days later. So frustrating, I just want it confirmed!

I have only ever attended 1 interview and never received a follow-up call, letting me know if I had the job. It is really rude after someone has put themselves out to attend an interview.

I don't find it so rude when you don't hear back when you submit an application form. Many jobs get 50 plus applications and you can't respond to all of them and still do your job.

I had an interview with Ladbrokes, the high street bookies, and was told that I was one of 12 people being interviewed and at then end told I did a good interview and would hear back.

I didn't hear anything, how hard can it be to send 11 emails saying thanks, but no thanks, ignorant barstewards. I assumed that I didn't get the job when I saw one of the other candidates working in the shop a week or so later. Still their loss and I carried on and now have something else.

Anyone I ever interviewed for a job, if they were unsuccessful, they got a phone call telling them so.

I think its just a sign of the times, more people out of work, employers can pick and choose.

I applied for a job about a year and a half ago, travelled about 20 miles for the interview, I was telephoned, emailed before we had the interview, not a peep afterwards

I think its poor practice. I can understand not emailing everyone who hasnt made the shortlist, but if you have been interviewed, you should be told yes or no, its only manners.

I did an interview with a company, did a half day trial with the company, interviewed for another position with the company was sent home with we'll get back to you, a few days later I rang the company for some feedback and to see if I got the job, do you think I could get hold of the person for love or money they wouldn't take my phonecalls.

But also have a positive experience with a company they actually rang to tell me I was unsuccessful and they would keep me in mind for future reference.

I think OP you need to with interviews and interviewers as liars as they won't let you know either way.
