My policy is not to ring before turning up (unless it's absolutely miles away). The percentage of 'let-downs' is about the same and I kind of prefer to see where a car is positioned on the lot, how many cobwebs it's got on it, etc.
I've only been looking at Zetec or Titanium trim level up to now but decided to look at the LX's around too , just saw one on AutoTrader and the dealer has pics of it with snow / ice in the background........ not been there too long then

Strange, the car mentioned in the first post appeared to have been sold around the 12th as it went off Auto Trader and the dealers website , it's now back on both at £4500 again ?
Dealer does offer a 30 day exchange , perhaps the buyer didn't like it ( or eventually checked the service history and found it didn't have the full history as advertised ) and took it back ?
I won't be buying it but I might keep an eye on it to see what happens.0 -
I appreciate there must be a difference in condition of the two cars but would you think dropping £500 off a £4500 car is enough to set alarm bells off or is this something that happens in the motor trade ?.
Not really. Its just over 10%. I've dropped 20% on laptops when trade has been slow and still made enough money out of them to keep me happy. There's been nothing wrong with them and they still have the normal guarantee I give.
Say that I normally make £100 on a £200 laptop and dropping it £20 makes the difference between making £80 instead of £100 or not selling and making nothing, I'll take the £80.0 -

Just came in this morning, guv.0 -
These dealers are auction buyers, they know very little about the car and often spin long yarns about it belonging to a guy down the road, full of excuses when EML lights are on, just this just that, reset service lights and tell you its just been serviced.
When looking at a car, always take a mate who knows a bit and insist he reminds you constantly that you are buying a car, not buying a tale of where it came from.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
