Dealer lowered £500 off £4500 car , Hmmmm
On Friday I saw a 2006 56 reg Focus for sale at £4500 on Auto Trader , I checked the ad again earlier and noticed the price has now droped to £4000.
Obviously dealers reduce prices if they want to get a bit more interest in a car but I was suprised at the amount it's been dropped.
Seems strange to me as He has an older 2005 05 reg Focus ( same spec ) slightly higher milage for sale at £4800 , both have full service history.
I appreciate there must be a difference in condition of the two cars but would you think dropping £500 off a £4500 car is enough to set alarm bells off or is this something that happens in the motor trade ?.

He probably has a margin over over a grand to start so reduced it a bit to get interest. He may have had it for a while to so wants to get rid of it.0

£2500 - £3000 at auction depending on condition? Maybe they found a fault and want shut quickly?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Hmm, £4000 sounds about right, maybe £4500 is a bit over priced, people are soo suspicious, if there is a fault the dealer will be responsible for sorting it anyway. I 2009 I bought my 06 Astra CDTi Estate, it was £4500 but they reduced it to £4000 for me I think because they had it on the books a while and I was leaning towards an 55 reg Focus Deisel estate that was the same money and had a few more toys, anyways no regrets, the Astra has been a very good car, cheap to run, cheap to tax, last years MOT all that was needed was new rear discs and pads, this year I put 2 new front tyres on and it sailed through the MOT, from what I've been told it was a lucky escape as that model Focus has a very troublesome particle filter fitted and they ain't cheap to replace.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Maybe the car is no longer with them, but they're using it to drag customers out to view the rest of their cars. One of the biggest problems with Autotrader ad's.
You "hello is the XYZ still for sale?"
 Dealer "yes it is"
You drive 80 mile to see it
Dealer "sorry it's been sold, but we have all these others cars you might be interested in"“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

 Know what you mean.
My policy is not to ring before turning up (unless it's absolutely miles away). The percentage of 'let-downs' is about the same and I kind of prefer to see where a car is positioned on the lot, how many cobwebs it's got on it, etc.''apply within'' 0 0

Didn't drive the car but it had an engine management light on ( claimed crank sensor and would be fixed ) and the full service history was 3 stamps on a 5 year old 57,000 mile car with a 12500 / 1 year service interval  , 1 at 18k nothing then until 2 years later at 45k and another at 55 k.0

I had similar with a polo on just shy of 60K miles, I was looking at for my GF. Dealer said it had full service history in the advert. Went to look and asked the dealer for the service book. The book had 1 stamp !!!! I asked where the rest of the "full" service history was and he proceeded to print of the MOT history from the DVLA site. I explained to him why in my opinon it didn't even warrent saying it had partial history let alone full, and said on that basis alone the top wack price he wanted for the car was way to much. Thanked him sarcastaly for wasting my time and started to wonder off.
Shockingly he turned round and ask what would I be willing to pay and would I do a deal !?! ..... No chance.0
