Options
Does anyone do their online shop with sainsburys. I have never done it before and am interested if they are any good as when I have tried to shop with tesco and asda they don't always have the items i buy online.

Also any idea why it is different costs for delivery on different days have seen tues and weds seem to be the cheapest is this the same every week?
Thanks

Re the costs yes, its probably because (although i have no connection with JS) tuesday and wednesday are less busy and want to attract customers to use them 2 days. I have seen in the past that tuesday/wednesdays have been cheaper than rest of the week.

You could get 10 people on here say they wouldnt use them again but you could get 15 saying yes they are quite good. Its different frm 1 store/region to the next in terms of if you get everything you want.

    i LOVE sainburys online,
here, i go between the 3 big ones
asda are always late, short dates and seldom get it right (but there are things i can only get in asda so do a shop 3 times per year)
tesco, brilliant time keepers, great drivers, great dates, but can have a lot not in stock or subs (only no stock bothers me)
sainsburys get top marks from me across the board and i spend over £100 so dont pay for delivery

I love Sainsburys online too. Had one delivery on a Tuesday and had 4 or 5 items subbed, but after that began getting my stuff delivered Sunday afternoon and only had one sub in about 3 or 4 orders, sensible substitution too.

Where I live all days delivery are £3.95 and free delivery over £100 spends, but I know that it does depend on area. The items you get are always very fresh, they will pick the items with the furthest away dates possible.
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.

Since you 2 use them how does it work with subs, do you get charged teh same price of the 1 you originally wanted.

Sainsbury's are the best at online deliveries with 1 hr time slots and free delivery on orders over £100 delivered on tues/weds. Although you do need to be careful of their subs. While Asda will sub something and charge you the price you intended to pay, even if the new item is of higher valve, Sainsbury's will choose something to their benefit. i.e. 3 meats for £10, when they are out of stock of one, instead of choosing another meat from the same offer they will choose something else so you end up paying full price for all 3. Of course you can decline it at the time of ordering but then you may not want to have to go shopping after waiting for your delivery!

Having said that Sainsbury's fresh food tends to last longer than my Asda deliveries.:)

No, they don't price match, but having rarely had any subs it didn't really bother me much. Yesterday I had ordered fish in batter and they brought fish in breadcrumbs, was the same brand though and the same price.

The food from Sainsburys is so fresh, I wouldn't entertain Asda or Tesco now.

I use Sainsburys they are always on time, and you can choose to have no subs if you like, I choose to have no subs unless its on something like milk, bread or eggs which i need to have.

I use Sainsburys quite regularly now and they are very good, always on time, sometimes earlier. I get mine delivered on a Thursday morning and its usualy £3.95 whereas Tesco is £4.50. Only thing is the subs they dont price match like Tesco but I only usually have one sub each week and so far they have all been ok.

I've been shopping online with Sainsburys for the last 6 years or so - ever since child no. 2 appeared - and I swear by them. I have used Tesco and Asda as well, but for me neither are a patch on Sainsburys. To reiterate what everyone else has said the plus points for me are the 1 hour delivery slots, £10 off voucher if they are late (not sure if they still do that though as they are very rarely late), clearly marked subs so you can refuse them if you want to and their fresh fruit and veg is second to none. I shop once a week and the fresh produce generally lasts very well from shop to shop. I find their website easy to use - once you have your favourites set up it's quick and easy and offers are easy to find too.
As far as I'm concerned, even at full price, the £5 delivery charge is more than worth it for my sanity at not having to shop with 2 children in tow, not to mention the amount I save on the "can we haves"!!!
  • I think Sainsburys does the best online service too. They are always within the hour slot you choose, and if not, you get the £10 voucher so not bad either way. The subs they send are sensible and as another poster mentioned clearly shown so you can easily say yes or no. On the times I have rejected the sub the money has been credited back to my debited really quickly. I would definately recommend them.
