Hi we are considering buying a 1 bed flat above a parade of shops. The flat currently has no gas supply but the shops below do. We would be insulated by the shop below, a flat either side of us and a flat above, it is also fully double glazed throughout so would it be cheaper to:
a) have up to date and modern eletric heaters installed like in the new build flats and live with eco 7/10 or
b) fork out the costs and have gas central heating installed. We don't know whether we would have to pay a connection fee yet.
We also want to consider the resalability in the future when we decide to move on. Would we get our money back for the gch?
Many thanks!!

Air source heat pump.
The shop probably already has one for air-con, so it's not going to be too out of place.0 -
Central heating is one of the few improvements that does add value to a property. A lot of buyers will not consider properties without it.No free lunch, and no free laptop

You would have to pay a connection fee to get gas. Ir you are within 23 metres of a gas main, which it sounds like you are then expect to pay around £600.
I've also bought a house without central heating. Although electric heaters were an cheaper to install option I've decided I'm rather pay more and get the full central heating rather than settle for 2nd best.0 -
For cheaper running costs and enhanced retail value of Flat it is a no contest - install gas CH.
Simple electrical heaters will obviously be cheaper to install.0
