Internet pics the likeabike looks coolest, but think rothan with lower seat height and brake sounds good and cheaper, but will look into strider more too

  • We bought dd1 a Hudora Ratz Fratz Runner Kids Bike last week. Got it for less than £30 on ebay and she loves it, she is 4 but is very small for her age (9th centile) and finds it light enough to carry (its about 9lb). However I would say that the brake doesn't seem great. Shes only used it 4 times so far and is already flying along:) Will definately be ready for santas delivery of a big girl bike.

This thread has made me realise I'm out of touch as I wasn't aware they existed.

Thank you OP for starting this thread - I'll need to get one of these in a couple of years for my son!

The Striders lowest seat height is 11 inches/ 28cm - I think the lowest seat height in that one you pictured is about 13 inches / 33 cm.

A vote for the Likeabike jumper here, we tried it a Center Parcs and got our son one for Christmas last year. At 26 months he could just about use it, but this summer he has LOVED it. Top quality, looks great, built to last and they hold their value really well.

Would definitely recommend one to anyone who can afford it.

i didn't think there were decent metal ones about until i looked into it, as not keen on the plastic , wood ones

i'm still leaning towards islabike rothan with good reviews all round

but check out the you tube clip on this one:

i see some people mention that their 2 year olds start using it, but having tried my son on the specialized version i think he's still a little small at 2 so will wait until xmas.

also probably go for the likes of rothan or jumper, with good reviews

specialized felt and look good, i liked the bit where one could rest their feet when free wheeling, but prefer the specialist ones as listed above and didn't like the sells pitch from the guy in the shop.

above pic is my son, ok he's not big, but not small, but the sales guy was saying how his friends 1 year old started using it! my son who's pretty strong and determined, but a 1 year old couldn't keep it up on their own without it collapsing on them!

We bought our little boy a Strider Bike from these people: http://www.strider-rider.co.uk as he's quite small for his age so this was the only one which would go low enough. It's really adjustable so should last for several years, and I was quite impressed with how light it is. About 3kg.

They were doing a £5.00 off code recently which was posted on MSE, I'm not sure if it's valid still but you could phone them up and ask. I think they had a freephone number to call.
