I would have put the old England as a great hotel passable but not great.

Farrigg is nice. My favourites are Lindeth howe and Linthwaite house but higher than your budget

Another thing, The Old England had its own car park in the town. Parking is hellish so a car park is a real bonus.

Ginger dad - you think its just passable ? It was bloomin gorgeous when we stayed, a beautiful ensuite full of antique furniture and a window overlooking the lake. Ditto the huge dining room with window full length of the room overlooking lake and the bar. Gorgeous. At a reasonable cost for the situation.

Just a thought, you dont have any tesco vouchers do you as McDonald hotel group and others take those against the cost?

Can you book before you apply for tesvo vouchers then take them to pay towards the remaining balance.
