Smallwood in Ambleside is very nice. or would suggest the Cavendish Arms in Cartmel bit further out of the way but very niceThe futures bright the future is Ginger0

We stayed here - right on the lake and the best hotel we have ever been in in this country. They seem to have some fab offers at the mo oh, but they still may be too much for your budget
Have a google on late rooms to see if you can get it cheaper. Gorgeous special place.

I would recommend a lovely B & B which is within walking distance of Bowness on Windermere and gets excellent write ups on Trip Adviser. www.fairrigg.co.uk0
