Hi..which EcoTEC.. the Pro or the Plus? Is this RGI VAT registered? Brand of magnetic filter, TRVs, Programmer, power or chemical flush? And no site survey?
Conversion to a sealed system is a labour intensive job.

You are in London, but from where I am sitting (East Hants) that is expensive. Remove old boiler, remove old hot water tank, install Worcestor Bosch 30 CDI, I paid £2700 inc.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

Hello There
As follows:
Boiler type: Ecotec pro 24.............£630 ex VAT..plus free inline descaler thrown in
Tradesman is RGI VAT registered.
Magnitite filter: Fernox Total............£81
TVRs :Drayton TRV4....................5 x £20
Flush:
- System sludge remover (Sentinel X400) ............£14
- System cleaners (Sentinel X300)....................£14
System scale / corrosion inhibitor (Sentinel X100)............£30
Already got thermostat old simple..needs to be simple..timer etc..and happy to reuse or use on boiler controls..simple keep it simple for me.
Rush Googled prices as I went along.
The tanks don't need removing..Out of the way and happy for them to stay there(....£100+ of copper if scrapped, other quoter said he'd remove them for free and cash in the copper..waiting on his quote)...Plus all necessary pipes are easily in reach for conversion.
This quoter did do a site survey..more like a sight survey..he looked into the small room containing the boiler and tanks...
Possibly use the existing flue outlet..legal re: distance to nearest window..although lowish to floor in boiler room.
Reconfiguring pipe seems to be 1m of 22mill copper (plus angles) from old wide bore steel pipe to new gas meter position (Meter repositioned previously prior to my arrival..but actually situated approx 250 mill above old wide bore steel pipe).
But getting a grip of things..had the base of the kitchen unit up today to verify to the other quoters that the wide bore steel pipe is where we thought it was..plus gave them happy info on what internet prices of a couple of boiler's are that I might fancy them installing ..so they know I know etc.
Hopefully a relationship based on knowledge and trust might occur from this..otherwise I'll keep ringing through the Gas Safety reg.

Another question Canucklehead, if I may.
Might doing only a chemical flush, as opposed to a power flush, cause problems re boiler warranty?0 -

Good morning: see the relevant manufacturer's installation requirements and warranty conditions for clarification.

I'll answer that one: Possibly. If the chemical flush doesn't get rid of sufficient sludge and some manages to block your heat exchanger......
I ALWAYS powerflush. The only exceptions are were the customer signs a disclaimer.
Just to pick a couple of holes in your price list, you forgot a few things....
Gas Safe Registration fees. £180
Liability insurance £400+
Van insurance £400 - 1200
Road Tax £210
Diesel £80 a week
Replacement tools £10-100
ACS Re-assessment £800 every 5 years
Van maintenance £100 a month
Oh and PROFIT..... I don't know of any business that works for wages alone.
As for internet prices, I can't buy from local merchants at the prices they advertise, never mind make a profit. You could say buy from the internet then. If we all did that the trade merchants would soon go bust. If that happened that leaking stopcock that you have might take 3 or 4 days to fix instead of "i'll pop to the merchants to get one - back soon".0 -
Hi, Z.: my OH always recommends a powerflush and does the same as you....customer's choice.
Btw..do you fit a magnetic filter as standard? Have you found that folks increasingly quote you internet prices? Marked increase in quote chasers/timewasters/ 'I can spec. my install' types?
I've noticed a trend...more folks 'knowing' the price of everything but the value of nothing.

Sounds a pretty good price to me, even for outside of London0

There are plenty of internet price quoters. I recently did a combi conversion and the customer knew the price of everything and had also asked for 10 quotes! Times are tough. I find adding value rather than reducing the price is the way to go and is still getting me work when i'm priced significantly higher than the competition.0
