Southern Electric - too good to be true?
We're currently with E-On with a dual plan
Electricity we're paying 23.43p for first 247, then 11.84, its working out at £260 odd per quarter. Bit pricey for me, so I thought I'd look around here, found a comparison site clicked the link from here, beatthatquote.
Checked for dual tarrifs and npower could save me 200 per month.
Then I read the editorial on it and it recommended to check individuals instead, so i did.
My Electricity is about £1,000 per year
Southern Electric
Electricity Rates
Electricity standing charge 31.47p per day
Tier 1 rate 4.00p per kWh
Discounts Monthly Direct Debit Discount: £22.46
Paperless billing discount: £3.74
ipaln
New Cost £463.02
Saving £613.82
Is that right £600 saving???? Chuffing eck!
I checked the figures (did it twice to make sure), and #2 in the list is npower who can save me £189 a year.
600 pounds saving on electricity? Whats going on?
What have I missed?
(needless to say I did ask to switch!)

Good to know there is a 7 day cooling off period "Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

I didn't see the Consumer Focus confidence code logo on that website which is something I recommend you look for.

but it clearly states its the electricity price?0

nope heat water by gas. Its not the amount I think, as I checked with my brother in law and they use a similar amount (2 adults, 1 child, 1 baby), we use about 100Kwh more per quarter, but we have more things going for the baby.
The usage is about 2000 KwH per quarter
but its prices that make it that
23.43p for each unit up to 247Kwh
11.84p after that
Thats about £270 per quarter.0 -
but it clearly states its the electricity price?

From their terms and conditions:...We are accredited by the Consumer Focus Confidence Code in relation to our utilities service....
Note the site offers a number of comparison services, but it is only in relation to gas & electric comparisons they are accredited
The site is also included as one of the comparison sites in the MSE article"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
