Private nursery threatening with court

If you lost your job without notice, you should still have been paid for your contract notice ie 1 week, 1 month, or 1 week for every full year you worked. Plus any accrued holidays.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

unfortunately it's pretty much the same with all private nurseries.As you have to sign a contract when your child first starts you are under their terms and conditions no matter what the circumstances.Most nurseries require 6 weeks notice of when you want your child to stop and they can charge you if you take your child from the nursery without any notice. (as it is stated in their terms and conditions)
Also the bank holiday thing is right,when my son was in nursery we had to pay all bank holidays even though they were shut (i still had to go to work though!).They also charge you when you are away on holiday even if you have told them in advance.Basically you are at their mercy because they know you need them.
Have you tried coming into some short of agreement with them to pay off the outstanding amount bit by bit every month?

Loads of businesses charge for closed periods and holidays. Some more transparent than others. Your company/employers will factor in an amount on the cost of their products and services to cover the cost of holiday pay for you.The man without a signature.0 -

My job wasn't a very normal job. I was working in a private house with a very odd couple. I chose to walk out as I had had enough of being swore at, bullied by his wife and feeling intimidated to take part in illegal and unethical jobs. My college tutors told me to get out as soon as possible. I was given no pay, no P45 and no outstanding holidays. I didn't ask for them or take it any further as it was quite a dangerous thing to be involved in. In the beginning it seemed like a nice normal job doing what I am qualified to do.:snow_grin Park Christmas Savings for 2011 £326.71

The court wont be interested in any complaints you have about the nursery, they will ask to see the signed contract and, if provided, will agree with the claimant. Letting it get to court stage will simply add to the debt.
With regards to reporting them now to Ofsted, the nusery will advise Ofsted that there is a financial dispute and that complaints re service etc only came after this.
You get a four week run on from tax credits after a change in circumstances with childcare which is designed to cover the notice period. Agreeing a payment plan with the nursery will be cheaper in the long run.0 -

I can't see where in my posts that I have said I will mention my issues about the nursery in court. They are seperate issues. Also, due to everything else thats going on at the moment I didn't raise the issues with Ofsted because I simply did not need the added stress. But now they have decided to get funny about payment so I have nothing to lose in bringing these issues up with Ofsted.
The bank holiday thing is annoying me the most, I don't mind paying the amount in installments but the fact that they have you in a catch 22 is just ridiculous. Choose a bad quality nursery that doesn't charge for bank holidays or choose a more reputable one that does. I just can't understand why they are allowed to get away with this. If the school does a training course for a week you also have to pay them for that week and struggle to find alternative childcare, struggle to pay both nurseries while working your backside off for nothing. On bank holidays while you are once again breaking your back and your bank, they are having a lovely day off. I don't get it.:snow_grin Park Christmas Savings for 2011 £326.71

One cannot take that stance after agreeing otherwise at the start of a contract, (then expect to get away with it subsequently), which is the "rights" issue being discussed here.0
