Multifuel/woodburner stove regs?

Still working on getting a stove for my living room and have been told different things by different tradesmen, I am hoping that someone on here can give me a definitive reply or point me to the relevant up to date regs:
Air vent in wall
Hearth
Carbon Monoxide detector
The Stove Pipe thingy
You know, the one that comes vertically out the top of the stove
Air vent in wall
- At the moment we have a 7 inch air vent thingy in the wall, which lets in an icy blast at all times except midsummer. One person said that I can brick this up completely if I have a 5kw stove installed and if I have a 6kw stove the size can be reduced. Is this true? (The room size indicates a 6.5kw stove but I'm thinking that 5kw with no air brick may well give me the same warmth)
Hearth
- What are the size regs? The stove will not be recessed into the wall.
- Does it have to be in two pieces?
- Where on earth do people buy hearths from? And what materials are best? Don't want anything fancy just something practical that will last. One builder told me to get floor tiles, but someone else told me riven slate is best. I have no idea.
Carbon Monoxide detector
- I have one already in my hall. Is that OK or do I need one in the same room as well?
The Stove Pipe thingy
You know, the one that comes vertically out the top of the stove
- How far up does it have to go before it can bend through the wall and go up the chimney?
- And someone said it can go straight out the back of the stove and through the wall and then up the chimney. Is that right? Would it affect the draw or cleaning?
