I also think that shoes for small children are something that shouldn't be scrimped on.

even first shoes from Clarkes are fitted so they should have at least 6-8 weeks growing room in them.

Definitely see if there are any Clarkes outlets near you, they do exactly the same fitting service and the shoes are usually at least one third cheaper, and they often do bogof deals too.

I use Startrite for my DD, the lack of choice bugs me but it's more important the she is measured properly with good fitting shoes. She doesn't need shoes very often luckily as they are expensive but it's just one of these things.

A wee tip, we got her patent shoes once and they were fantastic and kept their look for months, unfortunately we haven't been able to get them since as they don't do them in her size now (which seems a bit stupid!) they didn't scuff and still looked brand new when she had outgrown them.

    Ok.

Went to Clarks this morning. Her feet are a size 6F. 3 pairs in her size in stock, £32, £35 & £38. Sheesh, THey're tiny but £32!!!!!

Im on the outskirts of edinburgh and Getting to John lewis is a 1 hour train expensive ride. No russel&bromley or primark near to me.

THere is a brettano about 15 miles away. My wife wouldn't hear of trying there as she was adamnet that they dont measure or do kids shoes (do they do kids sizes and measure) So Clarks it was!

    Thanks for all the answers.

I wouldnt have anything less than properly fitted supportive shoes until they are buying their own... 16 years of Clarks/Startrite it is.. how much time do you spend on your feet? Imagine spending that time on feet which are deformed due to ill fitting shoes.. the discomfort and struggle to find comfy shoes..

Clothes dont matter they can be second hand, home made handmedowns so long as they are warm.. shoes should never ever be anything less than wonderful and the best you can afford ..

Be glad you dont have to buy my girls shoes.. £120 for one pair!!!!!!!!!!

If Clarks are outgrown in less than 2-3 months.. complain and they replace them ;)

Brantano do fit and I have always had great service from them in the past.

    From their website
Plus we offer a large selection of Clarks and Hush Puppies for those growing feet that prefer a width fitted option.
Then there's our excellent range of own brand shoes. Not only do they help the family budget go further but they're made with top quality materials and reflect all the latest trends.

In every store, our kids' fitters are trained to the highest standard and must complete 25 supervised fits before they can work with childrens' shoes. So you can relax because at Brantano your child's feet really are in safe hands. We care about getting the correct fit just as much as you do, that's why we use a comprehensive 4-point check for every pair of shoes:

    1. Check for suitable growing room
    2. Check there is no gaping
    3. Check there is no heel slip
    4. Check for adequate width

No wonder we're the experts in kids' fitting!

In fact we are so convinced our kids’ fitters are the best trained we decided to ask the experts. EDI who are one of the UK’s biggest awarding bodies have assessed our training process and are happy to endorse our training with their quality assurance.

So for the best kids’ fitting experience visit any of our stores and see for yourselves.

If you go to the Designer outlet your Clarks will be at least £10 a pair cheaper, like others have suggested up there^^

Maybe it's not Clarks you need afterall :D

You can order the shoes on the clarks website (if you know the size) to order to the store. They should have £25 ones on there. If you have bought them, try this next time but give it a few days for them to arrive in store. :)
