I was wondering if anyone had any tips for where to get shoes for my now walking 13 months old.
so far we seem to have clarks as the only place that sells shoes. Got here feet measured at size 6F and the cheapest pair of shoes they sell were £25.
Now as she will be out of them in about a week (yeh ok, I'm getting nippy) seems a lot for £25.
Where else can I get shoes that measure feet first and dont charge £25 a pair?

Brantano measure and fit for you, and they have a wide price range. I always find the service great in my local one. As for the price, this is something you have to get used to I am afraid!! Wait til they are older and need shoes, plimpsolls, trainers and football boots/dance shoes, etc. etc......£2012 in 2012 = £34.440

for first walking shoes they get worn out quickly so would go somewhere cheap like primark. I used to get my son's shoes from next a lot - they dont measure but theres nothing to stop you trying them on him. check out some online shops too but make sure to check whether you can send them back or not in the event that they don't fit.0

First shoes shouldn't be scrimped on in my opinion, you only get one set of feet and you're on them for a long time. I know they may not fit for a long time but Clarks really is a great place to get babys first shoes. You see adults feet who have had badly fitting shoes since childhood and there feet do not look good.
You may be able to get a pair in the sale or at one of the Clarks outlet stores?
My Gran still has my first pair of shoes, they're little white patent shoes from ClarksThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

Shoes for DS is in my "not very MSE" catagory. It's very easy indeed to damage the soft bones in children's feet, I think. but yes, it does cost a bleeding fortune!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Have you tried E-bay for Clarkes shoes? I'm sure any that are "used" have very little wear and tear.

Sorry but that would be the last place i would go for my childs first shoes:eek:
My 2 rules - dont scrimp on your eyes or your feet.
Dont know where you are OP but i use 3 places, Clarks, John Lewis and Russell&Bromley.
I'm using Clarks less and less though other than for sandals/summer shoes for my daughter as Start Rite shoes are much better for her feet. She needs the extra support Start Rite gives. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
yes with hindsight its not the best choice actually! I'm sure my son's first walking shoes actually came from next, I think they were around £12.0

clarkes or startrite for kids for me I'm afraid - imo tiny soft baby feet should be treated to the best - and fashion shoes just aren't as well fitted, supportive etcPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

The clarks outlets are good, there usually last seasons stock but what 1 year old knows that!! i got DS some shoes from there for around £15 and he's nearly three and has quite bit feet so they might be cheaper for smaller ones. They also tend to leave a bit of growing room so they should last a few months.0
