Orange magic numbers / free minutes on payg

I have just found out that even if you have free mins on orange, but call one of your magic numbers you still pay the 20p for that call.
I always assumed that if you had free mins that the magic number connection charge would not be there.
Strange.

You pay this on PAYG but get up to 60 mins I believe.
You pay nothing if on a contract.0 -
Not on my contract and never had.
Been with orange for years, since my son works for them, and magic numbers are and have always been totally free and do not come out of the monthly allowance.
Only applies to PAYG.0 -

Are you not sure that the magic number deducts 1 minute from call allowance? It did when I was on Orange, which was annoying as many of my calls were under a minute and the magic number was to my detriment, saying that I have left orange years ago and ported my number but I still get texts saying i can add a magic number :eek:0 -

It used to be, but it changed so they were now free all the time on contract.David
£1 of debt is too much for me!0 -
But on payg they take 20p off your credit even if you have 100 mins to use.
Seems a bit stingy to me.
There should be some way to bypass it!0 -
If you have an inclusive allowance, and you opt to call a magic number, it will deduct 20p from your calling credit, you can then talk upto an hour. if you go over the hour, it'll come out of the allowance0

Trying to strike a contract deal with orange so hopefully this won't bother me shortly!
Easier said than done though.
They don't seem to move much on the monthly charges!
Another topic entirely!
