    Re using pdf's

Please be sensible about using multiples of any one coupon. You can usually get away using a few at a time, but once you try and use over, say, 6-8 you are in dangerous territory.

Much better to be careful, stay under the radar, and make several visits a week getting, if your lucky, a few at a time.

Just remember, due to some people trying to use 20-50 coupons against one product at a time all stores seem to be clamping down on coupon use.

If coupons are stopped at your store you will lose out, not just today or tomorrow, but for ever, as will every other coupon user.

Once a store has changed its coupon usage policy they won't suddenly change back.

So be sensible and you will continue to be able to use coupons for years to come.

This is exactly what happened last year when people were using hundreds of magazine coupons for obscure magazines that Tesco would probably only sell one per week (if they were lucky). Several stores were hit by organised teams and, guess what, Tesco got thoroughly p***** off (and who could blame them) and coupon usage if you hadn't actually bought the product was stopped.

And we all suffered - especially those of us that had been jogging along for years, getting a welcome (but sensible) big reduction in our shopping bills. Yes, I know times are hard but for ***** sake, surely nobody needs these HUGE mountains of stuff ? Buying 50 or so in one go - and stripping the shelves by 8.00 am in the morning - means that nobody else gets a look in. Its greed and its selfish in the extreme.

I have recently found this thread and would like to thank MT CW and others who put so much effort and time into running it to help others.

I went into my Local M earlier this week with the This water voucher to be told by SA and also manager they don't take internet coupons any more.
They informed me this is due to people taking the micky and abusing the system with too many coupons.

I think this will be all supermarkets soon if this over use continues.

So as said in earlier posts I,m sure supermarkets will all stop taking internet coupons if this continues.

It has become much harder to use coupons in my local sainsbury recently.
The staff check every coupon carefully and have to get authorisation from a senior member of staff is someone is using more than 4.
This is all due to a lady trying to use about £50 worth recently, of which some were thought to be photocopies.

  • I know I will be shot down but I think it is time for drastic action to safe guard our selfs against greedy people. maybe the 1st page should be locked or taken down.

If people had to search for the coupons them selfs, I do not think there would be as much abuse. When things calm down we can start again, after giving the shops a break from taking coupons. :-)

Actually I don't see why anyone has to lose out.

I would recommend never putting a coupon on the grabbit thread, thats asking for trouble.

The rest of us just need to be sensible about coupon use. The tv programme Extreme Couponning is really funny and interesting but if people think they can do this here they are in for a shock.

I suspect this is what is happening. People on the grabbit thread see a coupon and go mad and get huge amounts of one product without thinking first.

We just need to be careful, not abuse the system or we all, and I do mean, all, will lose out.

I keep getting a Colgate coupon dated July! What did I do wrong?

    Hi SW

I will check the coupon later, I am not on my coupon computer at the mo.

  • Re 'stripping the shelves bare', when I went shopping yesterday, there were no Shreddies left on the shelves:(... but plenty in the promotional stack at the end of the aisle :D.
When I went to the till all my coupons were checked by a supervisor and I had to take the items out of the bags to show that I had actually bought the items.
By the way, as per T&Cs, only one soup coupon per customer was accepted, so I don't know how others manage to buy so many at a time. Anyway, I'm rambling now, but just to say that I only found out about this thread recently and I'd hate for the good times to stop.

  • Helloo to all
Being new to coupons, the info in this thread is fantastic.
Totally agree that going over the top with multiple purchases is just short term gain that will inevitably backfire and at best cause a massive clamp down on coupon use, or at worst stop it.

It raises suspicion of these items being sold at boot sales for example shreddies at 50p a packet etc.

Isn't the whole point of coupons to help out with the weekly grocery bill - not to make a profit at the risk of shutting it all down for good?

Anyway huge thanks to everyone who helps us all out :T :T :T :T
  • I have begun to think the UK will soon be showing their own version of Extreme Couponing, by how this thread is starting to sound. Each to their own; but 50+ boxes of cereal...really?? There is stockpiling and then there is greed.
I run a house with 4 kids under 12, the coupons have become a neccessary tool for me to get by week by week, and I'm pretty sure I am not the only one. It would be sad to see the supermarkets refusing the coupons, so ease up before it does happen.

    I've been Money Tipped!
In an "Ideal World", I would love all the best offers to be at Sainsbury's and just use 2 coupons at a time via the S/S tiils - easy peasy.
Sadly, no such thing as an "Ideal World". 4 coupons at any one time has been my max - just slightly above my comfort zone - prefer just using 2 or 3 at a time. I'm lucky though, lots of supermarkets on my doorstep - always passing one or two.

    Long may couponing continue.

I never use my loyalty cards when using vouchers, just go to CS later and get the points added onto my card. HTH

Hi, I was wondering when they scan the barcode from the receipt to add the points wont't they still be able to know what you bought as all the receipt info is in the bar code. When they scan in the barcode they can gain access to all info on receipt.
    Cheers

    Hi
I am new to couponing and boy is it confusing lol, I have no idea how people use so many, I only want to use one or two and have been turned down twice with the campbell soup voucher.

If you don't mind me asking how do you ladies decide which voucher you are going to use? Do you only use coupons for vthings you buy anyways or adjust your shopping habits to whats on offer??

    Sorry for the questions
