can i port my o2 tariff number to T-Mobile payg then back to o2?

just come to end of 2 year o2 tariff contract. that was billed by Carphonewarehouse.

want to move to a cracking "o2 upgrade " deal at mobiles.co

Cannot move my number straight to it as was previously billed by CPW , not o2

So...........

plan is ..... i've got the pac code from o2 .... going to buy a T mobile payg sim ... port old number on to that ....
then after ? day/weeks ? .... port it to the new o2 package that arrives soon .

Just want to double check .....

will this work ? !! .. am i ok going to t mob payg then to o2 ?

and ... how long do i have to wait using the t mob payg ... before i port it to the new o2 package ?

thanks

Yes, you can. Yes, it will work. You can get a free sim instead of buying, but you'll have to top it up.
Don't know how long, but I think they don't care after you top up as you lose the credit anyway.

ETA: AFAIK, O2 is the only network that allows internal 'porting' of the number (they use some different term, something like 'transfer'). Ask them first before porting via another network.

    I don't understand this bit.

There was a period, around 2-3 years ago, where O2 made an exclusive deal with CPW to sell their contracts; what it meant was that some customers were actually billed by CPW as opposed to O2. I never fully understood the setup, seemed a it strange to me; but this'll be what the OP means.
If you can get a PAC code to port to T-Mobile, why won't O2 accept this to port to their own contract?

The deal you said you want to move to is an "O2 upgrade" is this deal only available to existing O2 customers? If so the moment you port your number to another provider you will cease being an O2 customer and will not be entitled to the upgrade.

    I missed this word "upgrade".
I think IF this upgrade is available for 'CPW' O2 customers, there is no need to port the number.
