Old A&L sort code still valid to use?

I've been with A&L/San for about 3 years now, and last year (during the switch) I was getting money from Student loans company & SAAS by BACS monthly. Even though new sort codes were issued, the ole 72:50:** still worked fine.
However, that payment session has ended and I've reapplied for SAAS and a student loan for this year (again I'll be getting payments via BACS monthly). But, on my application for this session, I just kept the 72:50:** sort code the same and didn't change it to the new Satan-der sort code.
Will the payments still go into my account like they did last year without a hitch or should I update my sort code ASAP? This bank is really stressing me out!

It may do, but don't forget who we are dealing with here.
If I were you, I would put in the Sanatnder details. After all, life's complicated enough without spending ages chasing up money which has gone walkies.Santander - usted puede silbar para su dinero0 -

Ok, I'll phone them on monday. Although I'm genuinely confused - does it still work for old DDs etc but not new stuff?0 -

I was still able to send money to the 'old' A&L sort-code this last week......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

The old sort code (for a Premier Current Account) is still working for my father's state pension and dividends. However, if this facility were ever to be withdrawn I wouldn't bet on him receiving any prior warning from Santander.0

Direct Debits are a totally different system from BACS.
Direct Debit is where the recipient's bank requests the money from the paying bank.
BACS is money being sent from the paying bank to the recipient bank.
I wouldn't be worried about taking money from a wrong sort code (by direct debit) as the worst that can happen is it rejects.
I'd be more worried about sending money to a wrong sort code, as it may go missing.
I'd hope they'll run the sort codes in parallel for a while though.
I do payments at work for our company. We only pay businesses though, so I don't know if they have been migrated in the same way. I've yet to have any business customer tell me that their A&L sort code has changed to a Santander one.Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
They are still working fine for me for the moment, including for Faster Payments. Would be good to update it sometime but it'll probably run in parallel for a while.0

Rather worried as I had not instigated a change I rang them and the first question they asked was did I bank with A&L.
It appeared that Santander had contacted them to change the sort code to the new one. Perhaps this has already happened to your fathers pension?
I do not know if the same thing has happened to my occupational pension, but it still keeps appearing in my bank account!0 -

Hey, just posting again to say that SAAS would've checked the details to see if they're valid anyway. Maybe I should stop being so paranoid about clerical stuff!0
