My parents had something similar happen to them regarding a double payment from a debit card to the acer online store they phoned the bank which was halifax they were told they would have to get a confirmation letter or email with the authorised code etc would have taken at least a couple of days. I know for a fact that a bank can refund the payment without doing this so i took the phone and explained that the payment had failed twice due to acers website and i expected the two payments to be refunded as its been done before. The lady went away to speak to her manager and afew minutes later she came back and refunded both payments. I think this can only be done if the payment has failed and the lady did say that payment could still be taken for the amount if the company requested it again. But as my parents had already phoned the company and been told that the payment had failed on both occasions they knew that it wouldn't be requested. not sure if thats any help to you0

normally a maximum of 7 working days though it can then be reauthorised at any time in the next 6months so if i were you i'd try and keep the money aside incase this happens.0

What a nightmare! Rang thebank again today to basically be told because i only have a flex account they can't do anything  I just have to wait for it to drop off which won't happen till weds or thurs of next week, then hope they don't try and take it again. How can this happen in this day and age?:eek:The only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing0

the payment would go back into your account 5-7 days from the transaction.
what may have happened is the amount was automatically requested when you made the order, then when the order is complete the funds are taken (all within 7days).
when you go into a supermarket/shop and pay for goods, the shop requests the amount to be frozen, but only when they cash up at end of night, does the actual funds then start the xfer procedure so to speak.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
I suspect they did not mean 8th July but the 8th August which is Monday.0
