Dell A920 ink cartridges

  • For Dell A920, I simply bought the ink and didn't look for instruction: over-filled the color cartridge and messed it all up  . Went out to find replacement and decided to tried Lexmark 27, which is a $21 gamble with walmart. Payoff = $8. (Staples is selling a "remanufactured" cartridge for $29.)

All I had to do is to cut the little tab off from under the cartridge tie-down of the A920 (you will see the tab if you try to put the cartridge in.) Lucky that I have a good cutting tool. I saved $8, and now have a wasted color cartridge to practice the top removal with, so that I can fill it the correct way. :j

Nothing Yet, what will be staggering to those of us living in the UK is that your Lexmark gamble of $21 for a No27 would be about the equivalent of $50 appx here!

Have been looking for the answer to the Dell 720 for a while. Ours is a spare printer really that gets little use but needs a new cartridge. Wasn't going to buy from Dell but came up blank for other source or compatibles. Also got confused with different sites having different opinions as to whether Lexmark compatibles fitted or not. Didn't really want to chuck it but was heading that way.

Looks like I'll be trying the remove flap from printer idea.

I bought the Lexmark 10N0027 at ASDA for £11.97.

I followed the advice given in another thread and cut the plastic flap off my dell 720 and it works like a dream
  • Hi all, I've been reading this thread with interest. Does anybody know which Lexmark ink is compatible with the dell 942? Thanks for any help
  • Thanks everyone for your advice. I have been paying dells exhorbitant prices for months now. I tried the ink refils from Tesco, and they are great for the black cartridges, but I have been postponing doing the colour one as it looks really complicated to get the lid off.

I think I will do a search for the best price on the lexmark cartridges and give that a go.

PS does anyone have any advice on how to clean up the bottom (copper) bit when it gets clogged up?

  • Hi all,
Does anyone have a cartridge tie-down for the black cartridge? Mine broke and Dell does not sell a replacement (that was a customer service run around!). Duct tape works for a little while but the pressure isn't constant on the cartridge, so, it has come down to trying to find a replacement on the web. I figure if someone had an unrepairable A920 laying around maybe I could get the tie-down off it. Thanks!
  • Hi - Any idea which lexmark cartridge is compatable with the Dell Photo AIO Printer 922?

I can't believe the scam Dell is running. They charge me £30 for this fantastic photo printer, copier, scanner and fax - and then £20 for one of the three lousy cartridges I need.

My A920 Black Cartridge ran dry so I filled it with ink. No flow through the Printhead so I immersed it in a shallow dish with cleaning fluid overnight but still no ink flow. Does it need priming or are the nozzles so far gone that I will have to scrap the cartridge.
