Stuart, DI used to work in the IS, that is why his answers are always spot on.

The provision is there in the law, maybe the OR in your case simply felt that your circumstances did not warrent or were not serious enough for you to keep the car

just to add, the domestic need one is always the more difficult one and usually requires a judgement call, in most offices the domestic need one is usually signed off by the AOR rather than just the examiner.

for instance take these 2 situations

    1. Older lady with back problems and requires an aid to walk, she lives 100m from a bus stop which takes her to the town centre for shopping and she can change there for a bus to the hospital to meet her appointments.

    2. a young lady in perfect health but lives deep in the countryside with her baby and without a car would need to walk 3 miles each way to the nearest shop. (not on a bus route)

which is in the greater need of a vehicle?

lala9, do you have a relative who could buy you a replacement car, but register it in their name?. You could pay them £1 p/w until you are discharged from b/r then up the payments to pay-off the rely?

Nope not really patman. I really don't think it will be taken away, but I think the allowance will be greatly reduced.
