turn gas off at meter or just put out pilot light?

What is the correct procedure when going on holiday if you have a pilot light?
Turn off the gas at the meter or just turn off the pilot light?
Or even leave the pilot light on and waste  £2 in gas?

If you must turn it off, turn the pilot off first, then wait up to 60 seconds, then turn the gas off at the meter.
This will let you light the pilot quicker and easier when you come back.
But, as you are lucky enough to afford a holiday, are you really worried about a few pence worth of gas the pilot will use?0 -
But, as you are lucky enough to afford a holiday
It is because I am worried about a few pence being wasted that I can afford a holiday.

When I leave to go on holiday I just open the meter cupboard and turn the gas off.
That way I don't have to check if I have left anything on.0
