help! car hire

I'm moving from ireland to england, i dont want to bring my car over because its about to fall apart! i wanted to hire a car from galway to liverpool is that possible?? i've rang a couple they said no.

    They don't like their cars going on ferries and not being returned to the same country, it is unlikely you'll get a reasonable price.

    But why not bring your car over and scrap it once here?

    Ok, may be the long way round, but how about travelling to England and picking a car up here, then taking it to ireland to collect your stuff, then back to England, where you can then return the car / van back to the same country. As mentioned above, whilst one way rentals are quite normal, using different countries can pose a nightmare for the car hire companies.
