My son says thankyou very much, and so do I, Terminator. That all makes sense to him and he's been pacified by that explanation. Thankyou very much for taking the time out to look it all up and reply, it's very much appreciated.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

I've never tried a 360 through the resolution that the TV runs. www.avforums.com is a good place to ask questions about HDTVs and Xbox 360s. The guys over there really know their stuff!
You are both more than welcome for the help. Feel free to ask any questions and I will try to help out as much I can.0 -
Thanks very much for that link, too. I'll direct him there once he's had his lunch (at the risk of him becoming even MORE addicted to the damn thing!)
Thanks again, much appreciated.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -

Yep, DVI, D-SUB and Component all do the job on this TV.0 -
I recently did TV installation training for my job and was told by our TV expert that although a HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface;) ) socket is desirable, it is not strictly neccessary for HD broadcasts.
However, the difference between a broadcast through a DVI socket and HDMI is noticable. Not to me though, my eyesite isn't good enough to justify the premium that a HD ready TV commands.
Just my 2 penneth:rolleyes:0 -
Before Christmas I bought an LG 27 inch TV from PC World which was supposed to be HD ready Indeed on the LG website it stated specifically that it had an HDMI socket. However when I got it home and set it up, I noticed that in fact it had a DVI socket. To be fair to PC World, when I checked their in-store advertising, while it said it was HD ready, it did specify DVI and component connectivity.
I did some research on the internt, and while the DVI connectivity will receive HD signals from a suitable source, it only receives a subset, so probably, as a previous poster mentioned, the quality of picture may not be the best possible.
All credit to PC World; when I discussed this with my local manager, he agreed for me to bring it back and I traded up to the LG 32 inch TV which does have the HDMI socket. He also sold it to me at the January sale price as well, allowing a full rebate on the old TV.0
