The GPS system itself is free. However, some programs have to donwload the map information as you travel, which can incure costs when not using wifi.
I think, google maps does cost.
If your on certain netweroks its not so bad. Im on o2 and will get charged a max of £1 per day for data. So not too bad really.0 -
As per post #2, google maps will require a data connection, also if you do use google maps, one setting shows a picture of the destination (from streetview) when you arrive this will also use up data.0

Would it cost if I just used Andnav2 instead of my installed maps which uses Google.Change is here to stay0

Unless you have the maps on your phone you pay mobile data charges .
Note latest Google maps can cache some of the map required .
Andnav2 instead If it has its maps on the phone yes .
of my installed maps which uses Google.
If you have maps installed then you should not need much data .
But from first post i dont think you have any maps installed have you ???
Maps as in actual maps not the software to run them .

A-GPS (assisted gps) will use data, so check your price plan includes data!0

Some phones coming out now have it enabled by default, as more and more people have data on their plans0

Err some of the Orange branded ones do.
What HTC is it? Not all phones have A-GPS

Come on it's not poker, I only ask as I do not know of a handset where Agps is activated by default, the HTC is a wildfire. My brother is still on Orange and his Agps is not activated by default that is why I ask which ones?
The wildfire does have Agps, it's under settings, Location and then it asks use wireless netwroks (which is not checked) and use satellite GPS satellites (which is checked).0
